Dr. Jeff Turner : [speaking toward Miranda's departing carriage] Would next week be too soon?

Miranda Van Ryn : You know Ma once said, she felt she shouldn't of let me come to Dragonwyck, that she was afraid. "You couldn't marry a dream," she said... Do you dream much Jeff?
Dr. Jeff Turner : Sometimes.
Miranda Van Ryn : Some dreams are very real I guess. So real they get confused with reality. And then when you wake up, and look around, you find yourself saying, "what am I doing here? How did I get here? What is this to do with what I am and what I want?" Then I guess you make up your mind you've had a nightmare, and you go crawlin' to your Ma and Pa.

Ephraim Wells : Since the day you drove in here in that fancy rig you've been no more one of us than if you'd never come home at all!
Abigail Wells : Ephraim, please.
Ephraim Wells : You hung your fancy outfits in the closets and you acted like you never took them off. You won't sleep and you won't eat because your home's not fine enough and you won't be happy because we're not fine enough.
Miranda Wells : That's not true - it's got nothing to do with that.
Ephraim Wells : What has it to do with then?
Abigail Wells : Sometimes, when a woman's unhappy, she just can't talk about it Ephraim.
Ephraim Wells : Are you going to tell me it's a man - what man, I'd like to know - she's given frostbite to every mother's son in the county.
Abigail Wells : Perhaps the right one hasn't come along yet.
Ephraim Wells : Well, she won't find him with her nose stuck in the air, wanting what she can't get. A woman ought to get a man first, and then want him.
