The film started off as "Asking For Trouble", but George Formby and his wife Beryl Formby thought it inappropriate after having a run in with the Variety Agents' Federation, so it was changed to "He Snoops to Conquer".
The film was extremely contemporary when released as the question of post war city planning was indeed a burning issue, especially in the cities that had been devastated by German bombers in the blitz, with most city councils opting to demolish and modernise rather than repair and rebuild.
