Dr. Huntington Bailey rings a doorbell at street level, but when he steps through the door into his friend's apartment, they are on an upper floor.
In the long shot when the principals go in to dinner, the butler closes the door. The next shot, a medium, shows the butler closing the door again.
The name of Nick and Allida's child, portrayed by Billy Ward, was NOT Alec. It was Alex, short for Alexander. There was an adult character, who pined for Allida, named Alec.
To the contrary, after Nick introduces Hunt to Allida, he says that the doctor will sit with Allida and reassure her about "*Alec's* appetite". The boy's father, of course, would know the correct pronunciation of his son's name. Later (at around 1h), when Hunt, Nick, and Allida are having sherry, Nick asks what the child's name is. Allida replies "Alec." Hunt questions, "Alec?" At that point, Nick says "Alexander. Quite a mouthful for an infant, isn't it?" Therefore, it's quite clear that the child's given name is Alexander, but he is called Alec. Of course, this is not negated by the fact that there is an adult male named Alec who professes his love to Allida.

Towards the end, when Dr. Bailey attacks Nick and the two briefly fight, it's obvious that the people fighting are stunt doubles. Nick's stunt double has a different hair color.
