The two steam locomotives seen in the majority of shots are Southern Pacific's #2445 and #2447, both build by Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1912. #2445 also appeared in The Lost Special (1932), Night Time in Nevada (1948) and The Lady Eve (1941). #2447 also appears in One Foot in Heaven (1941).
Although the onscreen credits specify the movie was based on a work by novelist Louis Joseph Vance, none of his 'Lone Wolf' novels contain a similar plot.
