Six horror films from Hollywood's golden age debut exclusively on a trio of double feature discs. Horror legend Tod Browning directs Mark of the Vampire (1935), a murder mystery with a supernatural angle. Lionel Barrymore stars as the vampire expert called in when a bloodsucker is blamed for a murder but the film is more famous for Bela Lugosi's second turn as a caped Count. Elizabeth Allan, Lionel Atwill, and Jean Hersholt co-star. Browning also directs Barrymore in The Devil Doll (1936), a weird revenge film involving an escape from Devil's Island and shrunken humans running around up to no good. Boris Karloff stars as The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932), an evil genius bent on world domination, and Myrna Loy is his sultry daughter in the adaptation of the Sax Rohmer novel. Lewis Stone is the great white hope racing the oriental warlord to the supernatural treasures in the tomb of Genghis Kahn. Michael Curtiz directs Doctor X (1932), early two-strip Technicolor production starring Fay Wray, Lee Tracy, Preston Foster, and Lionel Atwill as the mysterious Doctor X. Humphrey Bogart takes on a rare horror role as the title character in the sequel The Return of Doctor X (1939). Peter Lorre cuts a striking figure as a bald surgeon with an obsession for a married theater star (Frances Drake) in Mad Love (1935), a fairly mad tale that involves the amputated hands of a knife killer that take on a life of their own when transplanted onto the arms of a concert pianist. Cinematographer turned director Karl Freund directs. All are B&W, except for Doctor X.
