Last night, Dylan Baker was at a special presentation of Halloween horror flick Trick ‘r Treat in New York City. (By the way, if you haven’t seen that yet, it’s on DVD and it’s a great rental for the season). After the screening, Baker answered questions from the audience and Ugo.com was there to hear the good news.
Dylan Baker will return for Spider-Man 4 as Dr. Curtis Connors, a small role in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 at Empire State University. He’s the one who explains the symbiote in the third film that attaches itself to Peter Parker and later Venom.
Michael Dougherty (the TrT director) joked about Baker’s role thus far, remarking that his character was “just appearing in the background.” It’s unclear whether they were saying he’d continue as a small supporting role or if he’d finally step into the spotlight this time. »

Not everyone has confidence in a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde adaptation starring Keanu Reeves as the infamous split personalities; just picture the erstwhile Neo/Ted Logan/Johnny Utah emoting on two different extremes of the acting spectrum, and you might concur. But if there's one person we think might be able to make it work, it's Danish virtuoso director Nicholas Winding Refn (Bronson, The Pusher Trilogy), who spoke exclusively with Cinematical to update the status of the 2011 Universal project and share why he thought Reeves would make the perfect Jekyll.
In Los Angeles to promote his upcoming British prisoner biopic Bronson, Refn divulged that his Jekyll project will not be his next directorial effort. In addition to stumping for Bronson, Refn's got another completed film to shepherd - the brutal Viking actioner Valhalla Rising, which recently debuted at the Toronto Film Festival - and doesn't have the time or »

A few years ago Forest Whitaker won a Best Actor Oscar for his spellbinding performance as dictatorial mass murderer Idi Amin. Now he's starring opposite 50 Cent in the latest re-telling of Jekyll and Hyde. I'd roll my eyes, but the director is Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, Driller Killer, Ms. 45), someone who can be a cinematic Jekyll and Hyde in his own right.
Bloody Disgusting got the poster and the synopsis for this contemporary re-working of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel that casts Forest Whitaker as a well-to-do scientist with a heart of gold and bulletproof rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as his evil alter ego.
"Dr. Jekyll is a rich doctor of great generosity who lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Mr. Hyde is a sadistic murderer with a reputation that strikes fear in the hearts of people throughout New York. Peter Utterson, Dr. Jekyll's lawyer and friend, »

The sixth entry into George A. Romero's Dead franchise, Survival of the Dead, is getting quite a bit of attention after its debut run at the Venice International Film Festival, where according to @OfficialRomero it received a nearly five-minute long standing ovation upon conclusion (a portion of which was caught on video), and as a result distribution rights are selling quickly!
According to Screen Daily, "Survival of the Dead is the first horror to be selected for Venice’s main competition since the festival’s debut year in 1932 when Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was the opening film.
Voltage Pictures is handling the worldwide sales for the film, excluding the Us. It has sold to Optimum Releasing (UK), Paradiso Entertainment (Benelux), Splendid Film (Germany), Presidio (Japan), Gulf Film Group (Middle East), Imagem Filmes (Brazil), and M Pictures Entertainment (Thailand). Negotiations for France and Italy are ongoing, while Spanish and »

To me this is some odd news coming from the Associated Press. George Romero's latest social commentary infilled living dead film Survival of the Dead made history Wednesday in Venice, Italy at the Venice Film Festival. It is the first Horror film, and also the first zombie film too, to be screened at the festival since Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was screened back in 1932. Seventy-seven years it has been since a horror film had kissed the lips of that Venice screen. Seventy-seven years! And after all those groundbreaking Italian born giallo film makers, like Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci and Mario Bava, didn't once get their films viewed at the Venice Film Festival! That is quite a shock and dumbfounding. »

Keanu Reeves is set to star in a Jekyll and Hyde movie, according to THR. The movie will be based on the original Robert Louis Stevenson story "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". You know how it goes. A scientist's experiment goes awry creating an alternate, wholly evil version of himself. They're calling this take Jekyll, and Nicolas Winding Refn, who has spent his career directing below the radar horror movies, is in talks to direct. In recent years the tale has been perverted, turning Hyde into some sort of Hulk-like, CGI monster but this version is written by Justin Haythe, the screenwriter of Revolutionary Road. You'd expect his skills to be used on a more actor-focused version. A CGI free version where the transformation is based on a great performance rather than digitally produced prosthetics. Alright, maybe Keanu can grow mutton chops or something but there »
