Buddy Comedy
boblipton20 August 2005
Director Howard Higgin teams up once again with co-stars William Boyd (later better known for the 'Hopalong Cassidy' series he starred in for Paramount and independently) and Alan Hale, in this followup to SKYSCRAPER, which had been released five months before. Once again, the stars are construction workers, this time working on a dam in an unspecified location. The result is pretty typical of the 'buddy picture', but you might be interested in seeing how it looks this early on. People who enjoy playing 'spot the stars' might take some pleasure in locating Joan Bennet and Carole Lombard in early roles.

Director Higgin was a specialist in tough-guy movies. His film that is best known today is probably THE PAINTED DESERT, also an MGM starrer for Boyd, best known for a breakout role for Clark Gable: his performance got the future King of Hollywood his MGM contract.
