The Gorbal Diehards of the film were a group of about a dozen boys from the poor Gorbals slum area of Glasgow, selected by director George Pearson.
All copies are believed to be lost.
At the time (1927), 'Harry Lauder' held the record for being the highest-paid comedian in British silent films, reputedly earning £10,000 to appear in "Huntingtower".
The story line required a coastal castle which was why Bamburgh Castle was chosen and the first of many films in which it was used.
