In Peter Bogdonovitch's book of interviews with famous director WHO THE DEVIL MADE IT, director Raoul Walsh said that the star of this movie - whom he refused to name in the interview - stole the wife of a prominent Mexican official in LA, so that when the time came to go to Mexico City to film this movie on location, they were all denied visas and had to resort to filming in California.
Don B Greenwood, the Propmaster on this film, had just graduated dental school in Los Angeles when he met Raoul Walsh. The two hit it off and became friends and when he told Don "forget about dentistry... get into the movies" he took his advise. Don Greenwood would work on many Raoul Walsh films and was with him when he lost his eye.
