As part of the film's promotion, Houdini challenged any producer to film a "greater thrill than the Rescue Scene at the Brink of Niagara Falls," offering to pay $5,000 if they succeeded, as announced in the 20 Oct 1922 Variety.
According to the 29 Apr 1922 Exhibitors Trade Review, Houdini shot an alternate ending to the film in the event that he was killed or mutilated while performing the stunt at Niagara Falls.
According to the 30 Jul 1921 Motion Picture News, this film was to be the first of four to be completed under Harry Houdini's newly formed production company, Houdini Pictures Corporation, but apparently only one more feature was actually completed and released the following year, Haldane of the Secret Service (1923).
