The movie was a joint presentation in April of 1913 of the American Museum of Natural History and the American Scenic and Historic Presentation Society in New York City. Producer F E Moore drew on the expertise of the Museum's Anthropology Department.
According to Moving Picture World, March 1913, no white man appeared in the picture except as the "black robe" (missionary).
According to contemporary advertising, "This photo-play was staged at Minnehaha Falls by the same company that played at Winona."
