- In the prohibition years, the 'rumrunners' travel through the Caribbean Sea with the forbidden liquor barely escaping the ship patrols. While on the run, one of the bootleggers falls in love with an actress on a movie set.
- A deadly outbreak affects the south of the country, so the police and and health authorities sends three young doctors to vaccinate people across the region and teach preventive health measures. When they reach a village called Aquazul, the population is mysteriously apprehensive and even the town doctor warns them not to try to vaccinate the inhabitants, but the doctors insist. Thus begins a series of strange events--extraordinary phenomena outside reality, all related to a famous "boy" who confronts his rigid scientific arguments against the possibilities of faith.
- In a small coastal town the residents found a braid and they began to attribute it miraculous properties.
- Crude secrets about the Cantarell oil field, Mexico's most prolific offshore oil reserve, are portrayed in reverse in the visionary documentary Pozo. The mysteries of the bastard family of the fisherman who discovered the country's greatest energy treasure are accompanied in chorus by the intrigues, apparitions and petrosexual traumas of the inhabitants of Ciudad del Carmen, an island radically transformed by the voracious hydrocarbon industry. The chants of the gods of darkness, of crude oil and of the end of time, accompany and guide this return to the eternal source of emptiness. This invocation does not count the facts from the end to the beginning, but undoes them, diminishes them, de-refines them, decreases them, deconsumes them, de-extinguishes them.
- Mariano Ortega works in an oil platform in Campeche. He's away from home 2 weeks each month and he can't fight with his obsession about his wife's past, believing she can cheat him.
- Five oil tankers went aground in the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of oil workers lost their jobs, their payments and their rights. The platforms threaten to exploit the densest mangrove zone in the country but a couple of siblings defend the rivers. The fishermen of the island, however, have been in capsize for the last four decades due to the discovery of the second biggest oil reserve in the world.
- To prove he is like his family of thieves, a young asthmatic man steals some valuable boxes from a mansion but when the robbery goes wrong, he has to pretend he is a touristic guide to escape.
