- A pimp and his seven working girls move to a small conservative mining town in northern Quebec to establish a brothel.
- In 1968, an internationally renowned French film director unexpectedly lands in Abitibi, in the northwest of Quebec, to conduct political and mass-media experiments. This event fuels the revolutionary tendencies of Michel, a local young man, and the desire to travel the world of Marie, his girlfriend.
- Dr. Rainville, an aging country doctor with a deep attachment to his patients, is about to retire and is looking for a successor. Jeanne Dion, an emergency room doctor from Montreal, agrees to go to Normétal to replace him for a few weeks, with no plans for an extended stay. When Dr. Rainville suddenly dies, Jeanne must decide if she'll take over the job, and its inherent responsibilities, for the long-term.
- In the 1930s, in the throes of the Great Depression, the government of Quebec relocated more than 80,000 citizens to found a new settlement in the virgin forests of Quebec's Abitibi region. After enduring backbreaking work to clear the land, however, many left, seeking a better life in the city or as labourers for the large corporations that had come to exploit the North's valuable resources. The Lalancette family, however, have persisted in forging their future on the land from one generation to the next, earning their keep from farming, and defying the constraints of globalization and the mining and forestry companies that control the area. Revisiting the heritage of Quebec filmmakers who documented Abitibi, following in the footsteps of Pierre Perrault, among others, this documentary traces a defining chapter of Quebec history and raises fundamental questions about regional development.
- Ten years after the tragic death of her parents in a mining disaster, Marianne returns to her hometown. She returns to GOLD, the rock band formed by her childhood friends, Kristoff and Kevin, who is the only survivor of the mining collapse. Each in his own way will live this return on events in a singular way. For GOLD's short-lived trio, commemorative week will slowly drag them into shocking and confusing areas.
- Long métrage documentaire sur l'Abitibi agricole.
- Abitibi is a region of Québec known for its forestry and mining resources that is situated 500 km north-west of Montreal. Its name, of Algonquin origin signifies « Where the water is shared », water from the river flowing into Bay James and the water that makes the St-Lawrence river grow. For many milleniums, the Algonquin people were the sole owners of this land and to them knowing the rivers' course was a question of survival. When the first Europeans arrived, about 400 years ago, they were trappers at first and until the end of this past century they were loggers. In 1920, the first mining cities were built. The aboriginals, principally Algonquins, were essential guides for these newcomers in all their activities, then, without any consideration for their heritage, they were obligated to move for the imperatives of economic exploitation. 160 000 people live in this region today, 6000 of them being Native Americans.
- The film tells the story of the life of the Amerindian chief Dominique Rankin which he is also the adaptation of his book "On les appelait les sauvages."
- The use of any language other than French in Quebec, particularly when separatist fervor is high, often serves to incite protests and even legal action. This French-language documentary examines separatist feeling in parts of Quebec, and reviews language grievances.
- -Throughout the year, Ian Clermont trains continuously and assiduously to raise funds for sick children. His challenge: to run 105 km in a single day. As the months go by, he has to increase his pace and rhythm. His body is changing. Injuries loom. He has to reconcile work, training and family. "Le défi" is certainly not a racing film. It demystifies sporting performance at its most extreme, and empowers the individual to change his or her life. In an atmosphere tinged with humor, this documentary takes a human look at the paradoxes associated with surpassing oneself and giving of oneself.
