- Sally and Thomas get a surprise visitor from Portugal - Ricardo, who claims his sister was also married to Sally's late hubby Stephen... while Sally was still legally married to him too. With an unfortunate case of bigamy looking likely, Sally and Thomas fly out to Portugal to sort things out. One of the women will inherit Stephen's estate - but only the one whom he married first... and can the other woman prove it? This is one holiday in the sun that could get a little heated...
- Sally is keen for Thomas to meet her dying old Uncle Horace for a drink - together with his daughter Pam and her partner Eric. Thomas doesn't exactly hit it off with the haughty couple - but wheelchair-bound old Yorkshireman Horace seems take rather a shine to him, despite an initial resistance to 'southern softies'. Meanwhile, Pippa seems to have fallen for one of Sally's potential customers - a thriller writer it seems with his own pens for charm...
- Thomas and Sally attend the twentieth wedding anniversary party of Sally's old friends Jane and Bill who, going by appearances, seem to be the perfect middle-aged, middle-class couple - with a rather predictably boring life to match. But, when they hire one of Sally's Lazy Days barges for their anniversary weekend, it's not all plain sailing when it transpires they're both secretly involved in illicit affairs...
- Thomas takes Sally on a nocturnal visit to pick up some novelty alarm clocks - but instead they inadvertently end up rescuing Europe's number one hitman... in a somewhat unlikely turn of events. He seems rather pleased to have been relieved of his 'Chicago Overcoat', and is keen to repay them for their trouble - but could it have deadly consequences?
- Sally and Thomas get all dolled up for a charity dinner - with Sally one of the benefactors, generously donating £2000 to Nepalese orphans. But things don't quite go to plan, and she's left with a serious image problem for her boat hire business - not to mention a funny feeling her money won't be going quite where she'd hoped. Meanwhile, Thomas helps a man who has fallen on hard times.
- Thomas and Sally uncover something on her houseboat, leading to a big adventure on the sea.
- Sally and Thomas are both separately owed money for services rendered by the same person - Nick Craven, dodgy boss of a local building company - and also part-time city councillor. Thomas attempts to get Nick to repay his debts - but at the same time, also discovers some shady goings on in the building world. When Sally isn't best impressed with Thomas's interference in her affairs, he attempts to inject some romance into their affairs of the heart instead.
- Thomas gets tracked down by a seedy-looking private detective - to tell him that his long-lost father has died, and there may be something in it for him. He and Sally head south to the coast at Dungeness, on the trail of Thomas's half-brother, whom he hasn't seen for years to sort things out - who also stands to benefit. But things don't seem quite right, and soon they find themselves caught up in a trail of deceit and deception. Could it be that the sea air won't be exactly be beneficial for their health?
- Sally, now alone once more on her boat, has plans to start her own canal cruise hire company - but soon gets leaned on by some unscrupulous businessmen who don't want her plans to succeed. She could do with a little help from Thomas, now a minicab driver in Newcastle - but will he reply to her letter and get on board with her plans?
- They start an on again off again relationship, and decide not to see each other, but events keep throwing them back together.
- Thomas and Sally meet on the highway, when he fixes her car. She offers him a ride to Leeds, and their relationship begins.
- Sally and Thomas inadvertently become caught up in a deadly tangle when the body of one of the notorious Finch brothers - who recently died of a heart attack while burgling a mansion in France with his siblings - mysteriously turns up in his coffin at the canal. It seems that Sally's smarmy new man-friend may know something too - especially about the priceless diamond the brothers have stolen.
- Thomas's new business gets a visit from the tax inspector - it seems bookkeeping isn't quite his strong suit. Meanwhile, an old friend of Sally's is in trouble when her husband walks out on her, and is desperate for Sally to come and help her out. With some taxing decisions to make, will Thomas and Sally make the right moves while they spend some time apart?
- A year on from the events in Portugal, Thomas suddenly reappears back in Sally's life - albeit in a rather unexpected way. It seems he has set up his own rather quirky business, with new friend Vi - but could use a little help from Sally, and soon they are back on good terms. But, when Vi and Lively get into a bit of trouble out working for Thomas, it looks like they might also need some help - but definitely not of the medical variety...
- With Sally away sunning herself in the Costa del Sol, Thomas and Pippa also find themselves on foreign soil - on the trail of Lively, who's suddenly disappeared back to Ireland. He's there to attend the funeral of the father of his childhood sweetheart - but it appears not everyone is very pleased to see him back on the Emerald Isle. Meanwhile, Thomas seems to be enjoying the Irish hospitality - and is in no hurry to go home!
- Thomas gets to meet Sally's rather flash Uncle Leonard - who just so happens to be a showbiz agent. But, not long after, Leonard died suddenly of a heart attack - and it's left to Sally to sort things out. She'd known him since her childhood, and had an affection for him - but he could just have left her a nasty surprise. Could it be that Thomas may need to wave a magic wand to sort things out?
- Thomas's friend Barry 'The Plank' Kernon's wife seems to be making good money in her secret evening job as a bar 'hostess' - which is just as well, what with their mounting debts. Things take a turn though when a photographer comes into town, looking for some gritty snaps of the 'real' Yorkshire - it soon transpires that there may be something more than naked ambition behind his motives - as Barry is about to find out...
