Elizabeth (Betty) Joanne Michalyshyn was born September 23, 1954 and died March 14, 2005 suddenly at her home in Toronto, Ontario. Betty was from a prominent Ukrainian-Canadian family; her parents were Dr. Bohdan and Mrs. Josephine Michalyshyn of Edmonton (both since deceased); her brothers were John (Gayle) of Canmore, Michael (Cheryl) of Nepean, Ontario, and Peter (Carole) of Edmonton. Her nephews and niece were: Nicholas, Noah, Cory, Zachary, Katarina and Perrin. Betty was predeceased by her grandparents, John and Rose Kolisniak and Harry and Maria Michalyshyn. While living in Edmonton, she was a member of the parish of St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 10951 - 107 Street. She is buried at Edmonton Cemetery, 11820 - 107 Avenue. In her younger years, Betty had won several beauty pageants: Miss Edmonton Eskimo, Miss Grey Cup (a major Canada-wide pageant), and Klondike Dollar Girl. Like her mother, she became a teacher, graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). She only taught for a few years at Donnan School, in Edmonton, moving to Toronto to pursue her life career as a publicist in the motion picture and television industries. There were a number of newspaper articles about her, at the time of her winning her beauty pageants. She was also the first Sunshine Girl in the Edmonton Sun, on its first day of publication. A scholarship was endowed in her honor for students at the Ryerson University School of Journalism in Toronto. it is awarded annually. She never married, and had no children. Canadian actor Terry Michalyshyn is a relative.- Robert Zimmerling was born on 30 August 1924 in Bremerhaven, Germany. He was an actor, known for Lindenstraße (1985), Die Bertinis (1988) and Tatort (1970). He died on 14 March 2005 in Nörten-Hardenberg, Lower Saxony, Germany.
