- From The NY Times, Published: February 14, 1986: Sidney Stone, a vaudevillian and stage actor who was perhaps best known as the commercial announcer on Milton Berle's television series from 1948 to 1951, died of heart failure Wednesday in New York. He was 83 years old.
Mr. Stone, who was born in New York, spent years in vaudeville, on the burlesque stage and in featured roles in such Broadway plays as ''Three Men on a Horse'' and ''Damn Yankees.'' Most recently, he performed for three years in ''Sugar Babies.''
But it was as the announcer on Mr. Berle's ''Texaco Star Theater'' that Mr. Stone perhaps gained his widest recognition. He would saunter on stage, set up his pitchman's sample case, and say, ''Tell ya what I'm gonna do!''
