Poll: Titanic Face-Off: Could Rose Save Jack?

More than a quarter century after its debut, Titanic (1997) seems to have not lost any of its shine. Its fans remain almost as passionate about the film as they where when they first saw it and it still remains among the most popular films in history.

Titanic fanatics' passion for the film is never more on display than when discussing the film's climatic ending: when Jack sacrifices himself to save Rose, by letting her stay afloat on a door alone, while he remained sunken in the waters of the North Atlantic, until he froze to death.

For years, some Titanic fans have argued it was possible that both could have survived, if only they both had used the door more equally, that Rose could have done more to save Jack, or that Jack's sacrifice was ultimately necessary.

It is time to settle this once and for all: in your opinion, could Rose have saved Jack in Titanic?

YES The door was clearly big enough for both of them and even if it took a few tries, they would have eventually found the way in which both could fit in the life saving raft and remain happy lovers forever.

Even if they couldn't find a way, it is unforgivable that Rose never even tried to save her lover.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic (1997)

NO The issue is not space, but buoyancy, the raft would have capzised with both aboard so Jack did the right thing sacrificing his life.

Even if several experiments have showed certain arrangements of the life vests could have given the door enough buoyancy, you can't expect the two lovers to figure that out in a few minutes, tired and fighting for their life in the freezing waters of the Ocean.
