Actress Jennie Garth has confirmed she will return the new spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210 after months of speculation. The star fueled rumors she had agreed to star in the new show after she abruptly quit TV series My Best Friend's Girl last month. Garth was slated to star in the pilot for the comedy, but walked away from the project at the last minute, prompting producers to replace her with Kristin Booth. She is the first original character to be signed to appear in the remake - although many former stars including Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering have both spoken out about their ambitions to star in the new venture. Garth will make special guest appearances on the show as her former character Kelly Taylor and will play a guidance counselor.

Lindsay Lohan has hit back at reports alleging she was axed as the star of an upcoming biopic of murderer Charles Manson, insisting she turned down the role. Internet reports surfaced last week, claiming the 21-year-old was dropped from independent movie The Manson Girls - Lohan's first big screen role since 2007's I Know Who Killed Me - because producers feared her wild ways could interrupt shooting. But a representative for the star denies she has been dropped from the film, claiming she was too busy with other projects to commit to the project. Spokesperson Leslie Sloane says, "Unfortunately (The Manson Girls) didn't come together quickly enough, and she was offered other roles, which she accepted and is looking forward to doing."

Whitney Houston wowed fans at a charity concert in London on Friday, that included a spectacular duet with her 15-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. The superstar headlined the Caudwell Children Legends Ball in the capital's Battersea Park, before a star-studded crowd including Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland. Audience members tell People.com Houston "looked and sounded amazing" - and they were stunned when she brought Bobbi Kristina onstage to perform "My Love is Your Love" together. Just last week, an American tabloid claimed the teenager was hospitalized in February after attacking her mother and attempting suicide. The gig is the latest step in Houston's comeback - following a battle with drug addiction and a messy divorce from Bobby Brown. She is working on a new album with former mentor Clive Davis - and Rowland insists problems in the past shouldn't count against her, telling People.com before the London gig, "People should not judge her. She's done more than prove herself."

Actress Uma Thurman is countersuing French cosmetics giant Lancome over the use of her face and name in their advertisements. The Be Cool star alleges Lancome boosting its "prestige, stature and bargaining power" by using her image on Asian websites and Canadian billboards after her contract had expired in September 2004. Her move is in response to the firm taking legal action on Wednesday , filing legal papers denying breach of contract and asking the judge to dismiss Thurman's original claim for $1 million. Thurman's lawyer Bertram Fields says, "Celebrities will now be careful about doing deals with Lancome. They continued to use her photographs long after the contract was over."

Teen superstar Miley Cyrus has been offered the chance to pose naked for Playboy magazine, as soon as she turns 18. Playboy boss Hugh Hefner wants to the 15-year-old to follow up her controversial photographs for Vanity Fair last month, and strip off completely in the pages of his legendary men's magazine - but only when she reaches the legal age. The Hannah Montana star sparked outrage when the candid snaps - which show Cyrus posing bare-backed, wrapped in a satin sheet - emerged online, forcing the singer/actress to issue an apology over the controversial Annie Leibovitz photos. Hefner says Cyrus would be "welcomed in the magazine." The 82-year-old also slammed the furor surrounding her poses for Vanity Fair: "I think to make such a big to do over something as innocent as those photos, I think is a reflection on how schizophrenic America is about sexuality."

Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston and rocker John Mayer are reportedly spending a second romantic weekend together in Florida, fuelling speculation they are a couple. The pair was photographed embracing on a Miami, Florida beach last month. Mayer has since hinted the rumors are true - insisting the camera never lies - but the stars have yet to confirm their relationship. Mayer has now reportedly flown back to the city from New York to spend two days with the Friends With Money star. And both are reportedly keen to keep their meetings hidden from the paparazzi this time. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Things are going well between them. But this time they want it to be private, so they will be keeping a low profile."

A representative for Mischa Barton has hit out at money-hungry publications printing unflattering photos of the actress - insisting the images were manipulated in a bid to sell more magazine copies. Images of 22-year-old Barton, many of which showed her topless and with cellulite on her thighs, were splashed in various magazines and newspapers and online last week. And although Barton has insisted she's happy with her body, her spokesperson Lisa Perkins is adamant someone tampered with the photos to suit their own financial gain. Perkins tells The New York Daily News, "Those photos are doctored. I'm not saying she's perfect, nobody is. But they've given a 22-year-old woman the legs and bottom of an 80-year-old. Look at the shots that were taken shortly before on a beach in Los Angeles. Did she develop all that cellulite in a couple of weeks? There's a lot you can do with Photoshopping." Perkins also calls photographer Jamie Fawcett - who shot the images of the actress on vacation with her mother on Hamilton Island, off Australia's East Coast - a "parasite" out to make Barton look bad because "she called him out for taking the topless shots." She adds, "It is a shame that publications tend to highlight an issue that isn't fair to a young girl. However, sometimes these are the things that sell pictures." But the British Daily Mail newspaper, which also published the photos, stands by their authenticity, placing blame on Barton's bad habits: "The nasty habit (smoking) is one of the reasons (for) premature emergence of her cellulite."

The cast of Broadway musical Hairspray got a big surprise after they finished last Friday's show - walking off stage to find Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes waiting in the wings. The Hollywood couple attended the stage version of the hit show with their two-year-old daughter Suri and were granted a backstage visit afterwards to meet the actors. But the cast had not been informed of the stars' visit and were shocked to be greeted by the family after the performance. Jenifer Lewis, who plays Motormouth Maybelle in the hit show, was delighted to meet Cruise and Holmes. She tells New York Daily News, "I turned, and there was Tom Cruise saying to me, 'Oh my God, you're wonderful!' Suri was so sweet in her little velvet and taffeta dress." Cruise later sent the whole cast flowers and a large basket of candy in time for their next performance.

Pop superstar Madonna has made history by officially endorsing the secondary ticket market - she's agreed a deal with a separate promoter from Live Nation to sell VIP packages and premium seats for her upcoming world tour. The singer recently signed a $100 million contract with Los Angeles-based promotions company Live Nation, which will see the firm continue to handle her tours and eventually take over her album distribution too. The move was a first for the music industry, and now Madonna has followed that up by agreeing a deal with ticket reseller Viagogo, according to Gigwise.com. The company will, on her behalf, control the sale of ticket packages for the European leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour - the first time an artist has explored such a partnership. Ticket packages, which often including travel, accommodation and/or VIP seats, are more commonly issued through outside companies with no connection to the artist or band in question.

R&B star R. Kelly has had a last-minute bid to postpone his child pornography trial denied. Last week, Kelly's lawyers submitted a new motion appealing to have the case temporarily delayed due to a recent "torrent of publicity" surrounding the case, which they feel could have a negative effect on the trial's outcome. But a Chicago, Illinois judge dismissed Kelly's attorneys' request on Friday, when jury selection was due to start, and ruled trial proceedings will continue as planned - six years after he was charged with having sex with a minor. The 41-year-old has pleaded not guilty to 14 charges of child pornography, after a videotape emerged allegedly showing him having sex with an underage girl. However, the trial looks to be a messy one - both Kelly and his now-23-year-old alleged sexual partner both insist it isn't them on the videotape. Kelly faces up to 15 years in prison if he's convicted.
