Actress Wells On Probation for Reckless Driving

Gilligan's Island star Dawn Wells spent five days in jail last week after pleading guilty to reckless driving following a recent arrest on suspicion of possessing marijuana. The 69-year-old star was sentenced to five days in jail, placed on six months' probation and fined $410.50 at a hearing in Driggs, Idaho on February 29. Wells agreed to plead guilty under the terms of an agreement that saw three other charges - driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia - dropped. She was stopped by cops on October 18 as she was driving home from a surprise birthday party held for her, after officers spotted her vehicle swerving across a road. Teton County Sheriff's Deputy Joseph Gutierrez claimed he found half-smoked joints and two small cases used to store marijuana in her car. Wells also failed a field sobriety test. The actress told Gutierrez she'd given a lift to three hitchhikers who had begun smoking the joints, and that she was swerving in the road because she was trying to turn up the heating in her car. Before the plea agreement was finalized, her lawyer Ron Swafford told the hearing that a friend of the star had admitted leaving the marijuana in Wells' car and that several witnesses were prepared to testify that Wells wasn't intoxicated when she left the party.

Hudson Gun Alert Sparked by "Student Filmmakers"

Police have confirmed the "armed intruders" arrested at Kate Hudson's New York City home on Tuesday were student filmmakers shooting a project at the building. Police were called to the property after a woman spotted three men with what appeared to be a rifle on the roof of the How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress' home. When they arrived, cops found the men carrying a "prop gun" and a "script" - the young identified males claimed they were shooting a student movie and had no idea Hudson lived in the building, reports website Tmz.com.

Dempsey Funds Cancer Center

Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey has donated $250,000 of his own money to a hospital in his hometown. The cash will go towards a new cancer center at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. The new facility, called the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, will open on March 31 and will be managed by the actor's sister Mary. Dempsey, 42, was born in the hospital and his mother Amanda has been successfully treated there for ovarian cancer, reports PageSix.com.

Spears Will Play a Secretary in Sitcom

Britney Spears will play a secretary in her forthcoming cameo in sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The show's star Neil Patrick Harris has revealed all about Spears' forthcoming acting foray, dubbing her part a "very interesting role." He says, "I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting! She hasn't acted in a while. She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted (played by Josh Radnor) is after. It will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently." And Harris is intrigued about the prospect of meeting the troubled superstar: "What if she shows up on set and she is absolutely, totally normal and that whole thing has been a big ruse? She is smoking a cigarette and (says), 'Oh yes, it is all a big bit. I have a master plan.'"

'America's Next Top Model' Producers Face Lawsuit Over Apartment Damages

Producers of Tyra Banks' hit show America's Next Top Model are facing legal action from landlord Michael Marvisi, amid allegations the latest group of wannabe catwalk stars wrecked their rented New York apartment causing $500,000-worth of damage. The current batch of contestants on the 10th season of the reality TV program are alleged to have broken a $15,000 chandelier beyond repair, left food and make-up stains all over the posh $6 million loft apartment, while water damage has forced Marvisi to call in electricians to sort out the mess. Furthermore, the show's crew has been accused of completely ruining the Brazilian wood floors and punching "hundreds of holes in the ceiling to hang lighting equipment." And the callous treatment of his plush property has left Marvisi "devastated", reports the New York Post's gossip column PageSix. A source says, "These girls not only destroyed the floors, it appears they had food fights. There's ketchup and coffee splattered all over the landlord's $20,000 white drapes. There's lipstick on the walls. They moved in furniture and made holes all along the walls... The landlord is devastated. Three other shows approached him (to use the apartment) and he turned them all down for Top Model. And a tenant was supposed to move in a week ago, but when the place wasn't ready, they pulled out. Tyra Banks should be ashamed of herself." America's Next Top Model producers are also said to have "skipped out" on a $1,500 electricity bill, leaving Marvisi to pick up the tab himself. And although show bosses offered to settle the dispute for $125,000, Marvisi has yet to receive any money, prompting him to consider launching a lawsuit against them. The 10th cycle of America's Next Top Model, created and executive produced by Banks, premiered on The CW in February.

De Rossi Signs On for Gay Rights Ad

Actress Portia De Rossi has signed up to pay tribute to a murdered homosexual teen in a new public service announcement TV ad, just days after her partner Ellen DeGeneres tearfully honored the young man. Comedienne DeGeneres admitted she was deeply affected by the murder of teenager Lawrence King during an emotional outburst on her TV show Ellen last month. The 15-year-old was shot in the head at the E.O. Green School in Oxnard, California on February 12 - reportedly for being a homosexual. And now Rossi has joined the cause to honor King - she appears in a new PSA, which debuted on cable TV network Logo on Monday. Rossi says, "Imagine if wearing make-up and a dress could get you killed. For 15-year-old Lawrence King, that's just what happened." Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight, Janet Jackson, Andre 3000 and Ashanti also appear in the 60-second ad.

Thompson Battles To Prevent Deportation of Adopted Son

British actress Emma Thompson has launched a desperate legal battle to prevent the deportation of her adopted son. The Oscar-winning actress, along with husband Greg Wise, informally adopted Rwandan refugee Tindyebwa Agaba after he was introduced to them at a Refugee Council party in London in 2003. The 21-year-old - who is affectionately known as Tindy by the couple and their nine-year-old daughter Gaia Romilly - became an orphan after his family were reportedly victims of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. But now the British government is considering sending Agaba - who is studying politics and sociology at the U.K.'s Exeter University - back to his native Rwanda because he has no legal right to stay in the country. As an asylum seeker, it is believed that he was initially allowed to remain in the U.K. for five years, a period which ended in 2007.

Sick Jackson Pulls Out of 'Saturday Night Live'?

Pop superstar Janet Jackson has reportedly scrapped her appearance on TV show Saturday Night Live after falling ill. The singer was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday night with a "shortness of breath," according to UsMagazine.com. Jackson's representatives have since insisted the pop star is "fine" but she has pulled out of performing on Saturday Night Live this weekend, according to Tmz.com. The star's spokeswoman has revealed Jackson is suffering from the flu, "like everyone else." Jackson was scheduled to perform two numbers on the show, which is to be guest hosted by Superbad star Jonah Hill.

Moore Plans Autobiography

Former James Bond star Roger Moore has finally agreed to write a book on his life - because many of the people he will mention are not around to read it. The 80-year-old actor has always put off penning an autobiography, fearing he'd upset his acquaintances on and off screen with his revelations. However, now most of them have passed away, he's changed his mind. He tells Dutch Television program RTL Boulevard, "My wife has persuaded me that I should write my book. Before I forget everything. And which is happening rapidly. I never really wanted to write my book about my life, cause I was thinking there were too many people alive, but now, a few are disappearing, so I can write about it." Moore plans to tell the story of his childhood as well as documenting his rise to fame and his experiences while playing 007 in seven of the superspy films.

Crystal Joins the New York Yankees

Funnyman Billy Crystal will fulfill a lifelong dream on Thursday when he plays for his favorite baseball team. The comic actor will mark the eve of his landmark 60th birthday by appearing for the New York Yankees in an exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The avid Yankees fan will train with the team on Wednesday and wear shirt number 60 for the game. He says, "I've been waiting 50 years for this call. I'm overwhelmed by the generosity of the Yankees and commissioner Bud Selig. I know this'll be tougher than the Broadway Softball League, but I'm looking forward to helping the younger players, which by the way is all of them."
