Barton To Be Charged With Drunk Driving

Actress Mischa Barton is to be charged with drunk driving and possession of marijuana following her December 27 arrest in West Hollywood. The Los Angeles District Attorney announced the news on Tuesday. Barton was pulled over by traffic cops after they reportedly spotted the vehicle she was driving "straddling two lanes of traffic." The police report also suggests the actress failed to signal when making a turn. Police determined the former The OC star was driving without a valid license and under the influence of alcohol. She was released on bail and has since apologized for her actions. She stated she was wrong to attempt to drive home after partying with pals. The 21-year-old has confessed she didn't have a driving license because she rarely gets behind the wheel. She said, "I'm really disappointed in myself. I'm not perfect and I don't intend to do anything this stupid again."

Lopez Takes Her Babies Home

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have taken their newborn twins home from hospital. The Maid in Manhattan superstar gave birth to a five pound, seven ounce girl and a six pound boy at Long Island, New York's North Shore University Hospital on Friday. But the new mum is now back at her New York home after Lopez's doctor Dr. Anita Sadaty discharged the singer and the unnamed tots on Monday. The 38-year-old is taking time out of her acting and singing careers this year to look after her children - she's not scheduled to be back at work until Love And Other Possible Pursuits begins shooting at the end of 2008.

Oscar Producer Sorry for Whoopi Snub

Academy Awards producer Gil Cates has personally apologized for omitting Whoopi Goldberg from a Oscars montage of magical moments that aired during the telecast of Sunday's 80th Annual Academy Awards ceremony. The actress, who has twice hosted the Oscars and is a previous Best Supporting Actress winner for Ghost, fought back tears as she spoke of her disappointment during her morning TV show The View on Monday. And her upset has prompted producer Gil Cates to say sorry. He tells America's People magazine, "No harm was intended, and I feel very, very badly that she was left out. I'm going to call her and tell her that... It was an absolute oversight."

Oscars TV Rating At All Time Low

This year's 80th Annual Academy Awards ceremony has been snubbed by millions of viewers - with figures showing it attracted the lowest TV audience since 1974. The three-hour broadcast on ABC only pulled in an average of 32 million viewers - one million less than in 2003, which was aired just one day after the U.S. invaded Iraq. Last year's ceremony was watched by an average of 41 million people, but Sunday's viewing figures have gone down as the worst since the ratings system first began in 1974. The most-watched Oscars broadcast was in 1998 when 55 million Americans tuned in to witness box office blockbuster Titanic scoop 11 awards. ABC says in a statement that this year's ratings did not account for an increasing number of people watching the ceremony on personal video recorders.

Campbell Hospitalized in Brazil

Naomi Campbell has been hospitalized in Brazil, after undergoing surgery for the removal of a cyst. Campbell is being treated by infectious disease specialist Dr. David Uip and gynecologist Jose Aristodemo Pinotti at the Sirio Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo, where she was admitted on Sunday. A statement from her representatives reads, "Naomi Campbell was admitted to hospital (on Monday night) to have a small cyst removed. Following the successful procedure, she is now resting and is looking forward to getting back to work. She would like to thank the doctors who have kindly looked after her." Speaking to news site G1, Dr. Uip says Campbell underwent a lengthy surgical procedure, adding, "She was admitted into hospital. She is in my care and that of Professor Pinotti, but she did not authorize us to comment on the matter." Campbell, 37, has been in the South American country for the past few weeks, after attending the Rio De Janeiro Carnival, reportedly as the guest of Brazilian billionaire Marcus Elias, reports PageSix.com.

Seinfeld Moves To Dismiss Plagiarism Lawsuit

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld insists he was "just joking" when he called chef Missy Chase Lapine a "wacko" for launching a plagiarism lawsuit against him and his wife. Lapine is suing the couple, claiming Jessica Seinfeld's best-selling cookbook Deceptively Delicious "brazenly plagiarized" her own book The Sneaky Chef. Both books describe how to hide healthy ingredients in children's foods. And after hearing of the legal action, Seinfeld appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman and made jokes about the "vegetable plagiarism" facing the pair. But Seinfeld has now apologized for his comments and appealed to a judge to dismiss the lawsuit, according to the New York Daily News. In papers filed at a court in New York, lawyers for the couple state: "Jerry Seinfeld made overstatements of opinion for comic effect. This action gives new meaning to the terms objectionably unreasonable and publicity stunt." The statement also insists there is nothing "unique and innovative" about the ideas in Lapine's book.

Ford & Flockhart Hitch a Ride With the Police

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart were escorted away from Sir Elton John's post-Oscars party in the back of a police car. The Hollywood couple was forced to ask for a little assistance from Los Angeles' finest when the chauffeur-driven car they arrived at the party in failed to show up for the journey home. A party guest tells website PlanetGossip.Eonline.com, "They were standing outside waiting for their car to pick them up. They called and called and called the car, but the driver never showed up." So the police stepped in to offer the pair a lift home. The party insider adds, "Harrison and Calista accepted and were taken home in the back of a squad car." A police representative reveals the couple was driven less than a mile to the Sunset Tower hotel to visit friends.

Report - Jennifer Jason Leigh Pregnant

Jennifer Jason Leigh has reportedly pulled out of her latest movie, because she is pregnant. Website PageSix.com claims studio bosses were overheard at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday discussing the actress' departure from romantic comedy Spread and her reasons for leaving the cast. A representative for Leigh has refused to confirm or deny the reports, telling the website, "We don't comment on our clients' personal lives." Margot at the Wedding star Leigh is married to writer/director Noah Baumbach. PageSix reports Laura Linney is scheduled to replace her in the film, which also stars Ashton Kutcher.

Timberlake To Induct Madonna Into Hall of Fame

Madonna has asked Justin Timberlake to honor her when she's inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next month. Each inductee is asked to invite a fellow celebrity or a family member to the New York gala to pay tribute to the artist's work - and Madonna felt her most recent collaborator, Timberlake, would be the perfect choice, according to magazine In Touch Weekly. This year's induction ceremony will take place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on March 10. Joining Madonna will be Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, John Mellencamp and The Ventures, who will make up the class of 2008.

Parker To Star in 'Boeing Boeing' on Broadway

Sarah Jessica Parker is set to tread the boards in New York - as an Italian air hostess. The 42-year-old will take on the role of a flight attendant in the Broadway version of hit comedy Boeing Boeing, which is currently running in London. Parker will appear in the play at New York's Longacre Theatre from April - and insists she is still determined to explore a variety of roles because she doesn't want to become typecast. She says, "Everything I've done since Sex And The City ended on TV has been completely different."
