Renfro Emergency Recording Tape Released

Brad Renfro's girlfriend tried to revive the actor after finding him dead in his Los Angeles apartment, according to a just-released recording of her emergency call. On the tape, released on Tuesday, a woman can be heard telling an emergency services operator she had tried to wake up The Client star for an audition but he was unresponsive. The unnamed woman, who also said Renfro's nose was bleeding and that he may have taken some pills, is then instructed to give the 25-year-old cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Renfro died from an accidental heroin overdose on January 15.

Polanski Set for Turin Festival Honor

Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski is to be honored at the Turin Film Festival in November. The 74-year-old, who is considered a fugitive from American justice, has accepted an invitation to appear as a special guest at the celebrated Italian movie event. Polanski fled to France in 1978 to escape charges of unlawful sex with a minor and has remained in Europe ever since. The legendary moviemaker, who won a Best Director Oscar for 2002's The Pianist, was invited to Turin by the festival's artistic director Nanni Moretti - who worked with Polanski on 2008 film Caos Calmo. And Moretti is delighted the director will be attending the festival, which takes place from November 21-29. He says, "I knew I would like for him to come to Turin, but I did not want to ask while we were shooting the film. But I sent him a note afterward, and he accepted."

Bana Dispels Johansson & Portman Fight Rumors

Actor Eric Bana has hit out at reports of a rift between Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman during filming for their new movie The Other Boleyn Girl, insisting they "really love each other." The Munich star is baffled by claims Johansson and Portman failed to get along onset, and has condemned the press for stirring controversy between the pair - because they couldn't be closer. He says, "Why is it that people in the media hate the idea that actors working together is possibly true? I hate to break it to you but actors really do love each other. It's a crazy job and we put ourselves in vulnerable positions. I don't care if it sounds corny but it's true: you're part of a brotherhood, and protect each other. And they indeed do get along really well."

Wins for 'No Country' & 'There Will Be Blood' at Art Directors Guild Awards

Oscar favorites No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood continued their awards glory at the weekend by taking home top gongs at the Art Directors Guild's Production Design Awards. The ceremony, which took place on Saturday night at Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton Hotel, honored Jess Gonchor with the Art Directors Guild's excellence in production design award in the contemporary film category for the Joel and Ethan Coen-directed No Country For Old Men. Jack Fisk won the same award in the period-film category for Paul Thomas Anderson's oil epic There Will Be Blood, while Dennis Gassner was praised for his work on The Golden Compass in the fantasy genre. Meanwhile, critically-acclaimed production designer Stuart Craig, best known for his work on the Harry Potter movie franchise, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and technical expert Ray Harryhausen picked up the prize for Outstanding Contribution To Cinematic Imagery.

Lohan Thrilled To Strip for Monroe Photos

Lindsay Lohan jumped at the chance to follow in the footsteps of her idol Marilyn Monroe and strip naked for legendary photographer Bert Stern. The actress posed nude and hiding behind a strip of sheer fabric in the latest issue of New York magazine. The pictures are copies of images Stern shot of Monroe just six weeks before she died in 1962, and which appear in his book The Complete Last Sitting. Lohan, 21, had never stripped off in print or on screen before, but didn't hesitate to emulate her hero Monroe - confessing her home, in the same Los Angeles apartment block where the late star once lived, is a shrine to the Some Like It Hot actress. She says, "I was comfortable with it (the nudity). I didn't have to put too much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that every going to come up? It's really an honor. If you saw my house, I have a lot of Marilyn stuff."

Richards Defends TV Show

Actress Denise Richards has defended her decision to allow her children to appear in her new reality TV show, insisting they want to become stars. The former Bond girl was taken to court by ex-husband Charlie Sheen in a bid to stop their daughters Sam, three, and two-year-old Lola from appearing on television. But a Los Angeles judge ruled in Richards' favor and gave her the green light to feature the kids in the currently untitled program. And Richards insists her daughters were desperate to be a part of the project. She says, "I am a single mom and I am very hands-on with my kids so I can't do a show without the kids at all. I asked them if they wanted to be on TV and Sam said, 'Yes!'. My girls have been around it so much. They love the make-up. They love the hair. They love all of that. I understand why people are judgmental right away saying, 'How could she have her kids on the show?' But as long as they're protected, I feel that they'll be OK." Meanwhile, Richards hopes the show will represent her in a good light following months of negative press after the breakdown of her marriage to Sheen in 2006. She says, "There has definitely been a lot of negative things written about me and going through my divorce. You know, I don't want to do a bunch of interviews and start mud-slinging with my ex. He's still their dad. I would like an opportunity for people to see who I am."

Judge Rejects Legal Bid for Spears Custody Gag Order

Britney Spears' lawyers failed in their bid for a news blackout on the troubled star's child custody battle on Tuesday. Attorney Anne Kiley argued a gag order is necessary because the media coverage of Spears' fight with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their two children is "emotionally and physically" dangerous for the singer. But Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner Scott Gordon declined Kiley's request for a ban on attorneys discussing the case with reporters. Gordon did acknowledge Kiley's concern about the frenzied paparazzi attention Spears receives wherever she goes. He said, "The concern really is the conduct of the photographers. That's a law enforcement issue and an issue for the kind gentlemen and ladies of the press to deal with appropriately. The concern you have is a real one. But it should be dealt with without infringing on the First Amendment." Neither Spears nor Federline were in court for the hearing.

Eminem To Publish Memoirs

Rapper Eminem has started work on his memoirs, which will be published later this year. Eminem: The Way I Am will feature unseen photographs of the 8 Mile star as well as journal notes, hand-drawn art and lyric sketches as well as a narrative and introduction written by the star himself. The tome, set to be published by Orion Books, is set to hit shelves on October 16. And Ian Preece, of Orion, insists the memoirs will reveal the truth about the rapper. He says, "Everyone has their own take on Eminem. Because of where he is from, people think they know where he is at, what kind of person he really is. This book cuts through all that and gets to the source. It has an edge. It'll be one of the books of the year."

Pink Splits From Husband

Pop star Pink has split from her husband of two years, motocross racer Carey Hart. The singer, 28, married 32-year-old Hart in January 2006 at a ceremony in Costa Rica. The star - real name Alecia Moore - recently denied reports her marriage was in trouble but has now confirmed the split. Moore's publicist Michele Schweitzer insists Pink and Hart have ended their relationship on amicable terms. She tells People.com, "Pink and Carey Hart have separated. This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another. While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger."

Sean Bean Marries

Lord Of The Rings star Sean Bean has wed actress Georgina Sutcliffe - a month after the nuptials were postponed. The couple was due to walk down the aisle last month but called off the ceremony at the last minute - citing work commitments for the change of plan. And Bean, 48, finally wed 29-year-old Sutcliffe on Tuesday at the Westminster Register Office in London surrounded by friends and family. The marriage is Bean's fourth. He has three children from his previous relationships.
