Lohan Bares All As Marilyn Monroe

Lindsay Lohan has bared all for New York's leading news magazine, wearing nothing but see-through fabrics. All blonde for New York magazine, the Mean Girls actress recreates a 1962 Marilyn Monroe spread by Bert Stern. Photographer Stern, who also took the Lohan shots, captures a pouting Lohan, laying naked on a bed, for a shot inside the new publication and another, featuring the actress wrapped in a sheer pink scarf features on the cover. While many of the shots tastefully cover the 21-year-old actress' private areas, some photos have her baring all, covered only by sheer fabric. Stern took the iconic Monroe photo shoot six weeks before the tragic movie star was found dead. Lohan, who posed for the shots at Hollywood's Hotel Bel-Air on February 5, prepared for the sexy shoot by doing "250 crunches" the night before, and admits she was "comfortable with it."

Nancy Reagan Hospitalized

Former U.S. First Lady Nancy Reagan is receiving treatment in a hospital after falling at her home in Bel-Air, California on Sunday. The 86-year-old widow of President Ronald Reagan is recuperating at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California, where she is doing well, according to her spokeswoman Joanne Drake. Drake says, "She's joking and visiting in her room." Doctors initially feared Reagan had broken a hip, but have now ruled this out. She spent Sunday night at the medical centre as a precaution and is expected to be discharged on Monday. Ronald Reagan died in 2004, following a decade-long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Ledger Joker Doll To Go On Sale

Late actor Heath Ledger is set to be immortalized in the form of a toy doll - with his grieving family's blessing. Ledger had recently finished playing The Joker in the forthcoming Batman film The Dark Knight when he was found dead in his New York apartment last month. However, only a week after the Aussie star's funeral, a range of The Joker dolls have been revealed by toy giants Mattel. The action figures are set to be marketed alongside the new movie - tipped to be this summer's major blockbuster. Two versions of the Heath joker doll will hit stores in May - one comes with a rocket launcher and the second is armed with a knife. A spokesman for the star's family says, "Heath was very proud of his work in the film and his family is aware and supportive of the plans for the movie." Toxicology results released earlier this month revealed Ledger was killed by an accidental overdose of prescribed medications.

Alzheimer's Organization Warns Christie Against Oscar Jokes

Officials at the U.S. Alzheimer's Association have called on Julie Christie and others to show some sensitivity towards the disease at the Academy Awards on Sunday. Christie, who is nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of an Alzheimer's disease sufferer in Away From Her, upset the organization last month when she made an insensitive onstage joke while collecting the Best Actress prize at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. After thanking select members of the movie's cast and crew, Christie said, "And if I've forgotten anybody, well, it's just that I'm still in character." With two movies - Away From Her and The Savages - dealing with Alzheimer's and dementia up for Oscars, mental health campaigners want stars at Sunday's ceremony to tread carefully when discussing the diseases. Peter Braun of the Alzheimer's Association tells the Los Angeles Times, "It is no laughing matter. People don't laugh about cancer, people don't laugh about AIDS. We call on the Academy to use this moment for good, as it has done for so many other social causes."

Writer/Filmmaker Robbe-Grillet Dies

French writer and filmmaker Alain Robbe-Grillet has died at the age of 85. Robbe-Grillet was taken to the Caen University Hospital in Caen, France over the weekend to receive treatment for cardiac problems. He passed away on Monday morning. Robbe-Grillet is best known for pioneering the "new novel" genre in the 1950s, a movement that threw out traditional literary conventions, including punctuation, narrative and character development. Among his highest regarded books are Les Gommes and La Jalousie. Robbe-Grillet went on to write screenplays including Last Year At Marienbad. He also directed movies such as L'Immortelle, Trans-Europ-Express and Eden And After.

Drug Agents Fail To Sue 'American Gangster' Makers

The studio behind Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington's hit movie American Gangster is "gratified" after a judge threw out a $60 million lawsuit against it. U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon dismissed a case filed by a group of retired federal drug enforcement agents who attempted to sue Universal Pictures over claims they're portrayed as bad guys in the film. The suit alleged the movie, based on the real life battle to bring 1970s drug boss Frank Lucas to justice, defamed hundreds of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and police officers. But McMahon dismissed the case, saying the movie failed to "show a single person who is identifiable as a DEA agent," and therefore failed to meet defamation law standards. A spokesman for Universal Pictures says, "We are happy that this matter has been brought to a swift and decisive close."

Quaid's Wife Denies Assault

Randy Quaid's wife Evi denies verbally and physically assaulting four actor's union members, branding the allegations "despicable lies." According to legal papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court last month, Evi Quaid stormed into the offices of the Actor's Equity Association and kicked the 76-year-old receptionist in his shins, drawing blood. She also allegedly screamed at a union member about "a Nazi plot to get Randy Quaid" while repeatedly shouting, "F**k you." But Quaid has strongly refuted the allegations, insisting it was her who was attacked. She tells New York gossip column PageSix.com, "I will not dignify Equity's false accusations because I have no interest in having any further contact or dealings with an organization which not only fails to protect actors but instead attacks them. The claims of the Actors Equity union are despicable lies. The people who run this union are small minded and have no place in the arts. They will do absolutely anything and everything to cover the truth, including assault me and then claim they were assaulted. Actors Equity is a corrupt union." Evi claims the dispute arose from sexual harassment allegations made against her by an advertising agency that marketed the Seattle stage production of Lone Star Love, starring her husband and at one point headed for Broadway.

Franklin Targeted by PETA

Soul star Aretha Franklin has been heavily criticized by animal rights campaigners for her love of fur coats, with a spokesman for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) branding her a "court jester." The legendary singer arrived at the recent Grammy Awards sporting the fashionable item - but her choice of wardrobe has not gone down well with animal activists. In an open letter to the hitmaker, PETA representative Dan Matthews writes, "Music lovers may think of you as a 'queen,' but to animal lovers, you are a court jester... Why not shed the old-fashioned look that adds pounds to your frame and detracts from your beautiful voice? Please consider donating your furs to the homeless as 'queen of compassion,' Mariah Carey, did. You'll get a tax credit for the donation, and we at PETA will all sing your praises."

Winslet Sells Dress for $40,000

A dress designed for Hollywood actress Kate Winslet has been sold at an auction for $40,000. The Little Children star sold the Vivienne Westwood creation to raise funds for Cardboard Citizens, a homeless people's theater company. The 32-year-old - who is ambassador for the charity - wore the red dress at a benefit, before auctioning the outfit at the end of the night. She says, "Vivienne Westwood created the dress especially for me for this occasion and it is a really beautiful piece. I hope the winning bidder enjoys wearing it as much as I did."

McConaughey Goes Topless for Dolce & Gabbana Ad

Matthew McConaughey has gone topless - again - for Dolce & Gabbana's new TV fragrance ads. The Fool's Gold movie hunk sets paparazzi flashbulbs popping as he removes his suit jacket and shirt, revealing perfectly toned abs, in his hotel room after returning after a night out. The new ad apes McConaughey's real life, where paparazzi lie in wait for the Sahara star to catch shots of him without a shirt.
