Cyrus Apologizes For Not Wearing Seat Belt

Singer/actress Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray Cyrus have apologized for failing to wear seat belts in a scene in new concert movie Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best Of Both Worlds Concert Tour. U.S. watchdog Consumer Reports publicly criticized the pair earlier this week for setting a bad example to Miley's young fans. The scene in question features the 15-year-old pop sensation and her dad in the back of a Range Rover - with neither of them wearing required safety restraints. Billy Ray tells People.com, "We got caught up in the moment of filming, and we made a mistake and forgot to buckle our seatbelts. Seatbelt safety is extremely important."

Dane Denies Cancer Battle

Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane has denied reports he's suffering from skin cancer. The 35-year-old actor was said to be battling the deadly disease after he was diagnosed with it in January. But Dane insists the report, in U.S. magazine OK!, is exaggerated. His spokesperson tells American publication Us Weekly, "Eric Dane does not have cancer. He spoke with OK! to clear up some inaccuracies they were planning to run. His story certainly does not compare with those actually suffering from the disease." Dane was quoted in OK! as saying, "I went to my dermatologist. He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage. My skin is very sensitive and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through. I didn't eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight."

Winkler Testifies in Ritter Trial

Former Happy Days star Henry Winkler wrapped up his testimony in the ongoing John Ritter wrongful death trial by telling the media he's still grieving the loss of his old pal. Winkler was in court in Glendale, California on Wednesday morning helping Ritter's widow Amy Yasbeck prove the late actor's death could have been avoided if doctors at the Providence Street Joseph Medical Center hadn't misdiagnosed the star's heart condition. Winkler, who was working with Ritter on TV sitcom 8 Simple Rules on the day he was taken ill in 2003, told the court he still remembers the pain he felt when he heard his longtime friend had died. He told reporters outside court, "I couldn't comprehend it. It was like they were speaking from another planet. We kept repeating over, 'What? What?'" In court, Winkler insisted his late friend would have continued working in TV and cinema for many years if he had been properly treated by doctors on the day he died. The actor maintained Ritter's death cost his family millions in future earnings. Ritter's wife and his eldest children are suing two doctors for $67 million for misdiagnosing Ritter's torn aorta.

Quaid To Address Baby Twins Drama On News Special

Dennis Quaid is determined to turn his baby twins' medical nightmare into a positive by warning other parents about the dangers of hospitals on a new TV news special. The actor's twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were left fighting for their lives when they were mistakenly given 1,000 times the normal 10-unit dose of blood-thinning drug Heparin by staff at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center shortly after they were born to a surrogate mother in November. Quaid and his wife Kimberly spent days fearing their babies were in peril, but both are now healthy - and the actor wants to warn other parents about hospital hazards. He says, "The kids are doing great now, but it was real scary for a couple of weeks. We really appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers when all this was going on and we really felt them. Something good is really going to come out of it. We are going to talk about it on (U.S. news show) 60 Minutes in March."

Parker & Morgan Engaged?

Actress Mary-Louise Parker is to marry boyfriend Jeffrey Dean Morgan after rekindling their love on the set of American TV show Weeds. The couple first dated in early 2007 but broke up in June that year after a brief romance, with Morgan stating it was "the wrong time" in their lives for a relationship. However, the stars - who play husband and wife on Weeds - reunited off-screen and made their relationship public in December, when they attended the U.S. premiere of P.S. I Love You holding hands, reports the New York Daily News. It will be Morgan's second marriage and Parker's first. The pair has yet to set a date for their impending nuptials.

Turner Apologizes to Cage Over Book Claims

Kathleen Turner has apologized to Nicolas Cage for "causing distress" by accusing the actor of drink-driving and theft in her new autobiography. Cage began libel proceedings against his Peggy Sue Got Married co-star in London's High Court last week after claiming her new book Send Yourelf Roses was full of false claims about him. In the book, Turner alleges Cage went to great lengths to disobey his director uncle Francis Ford Coppola on the set of their 1986 movie, adding he found himself in trouble with police while filming. But the 53-year-old actress insists she had no intention for the contents of her book to upset Cage, or anybody else, and is deeply sorry for any hurt caused. She says, "I guess what I can say is I'm truly sorry if I caused distress or harm, because one thing is for sure - I never, ever intended to do that. This is what I remember, these are my thoughts and (they were) certainly not intended to damage anyone else."

'Atonement' Stars Lead Elle Style Awards

The stars of British movie Atonement, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, made up for disappointment at the BAFTAs by scooping the top honors at the Elle Style Awards. Both Knightley and McAvoy failed to win gold at Sunday's star-studded ceremony for their roles in the romantic drama but were instead hailed as movie style icons at the awards held by British magazine Elle on Tuesday night. Knightley picked up the best actress prize while her co-star McAvoy landed the best actor honor at the event held in Notting Hill, West London. Other stars to receive nods for their A-list dress sense included pop star Kylie Minogue who was handed the Woman of the Year award and Kate Hudsonwho received the coveted Elle Style Icon trophy for her "distinctive and kooky" fashion choices. There were also awards for TV presenter Kelly Osbourne, singer Kate Nash, model Agyness Deyn and designer Anya Hindmarch who was honored for outstanding achievement.

Spears' Hospital Escort Prompts New "Britney Law"

Britney Spears is to have a law in Los Angeles named after her - because it was her $24,000 police escort to hospital last month which prompted councilmen to propose the amendment. The troubled pop star was taken from her Coldwater Canyon home to UCLA Medical Center on January 31 in an ambulance with a motorcade from the Los Angeles Police Department. The job of the motorcade, which included more than 20 police officers, a helicopter and a team of intervention specialists, was to block off traffic ahead and behind the ambulance carrying Spears to hospital, and to keep the paparazzi at bay. And the move has inspired L.A. City Councilman Dennis P. Zine to propose a safety zone be set up to protect areas around celebrities, hospitals, traffic, businesses and homes. The bill also suggests all members of the paparazzi get licenses to take photographs in the protected zones - with those breaking the law having their license revoked and royalties from the picture confiscated. He says, "The straw that broke the camel's back (idea that prompted the law) is the $24,000 we spent to escort an L.A. City ambulance to the hospital. I'm not infringing upon the right to take a picture. I'm concerned about the impact they have on the general public." Councilmen will vote on whether to adopt the new "Britney Law" on March 1, reports Hollyscoop.com.

Hilton's Brother Released On Bail

Paris Hilton's brother Barron Hilton has been released on bail after his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI). The 18-year-old was arrested on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California at 8:30am on Tuesday. It is believed he accidentally ran over a gas station worker before his arrest. Hilton was released from the Lost Hills Sheriff's station on $5,000 bail on Tuesday evening. Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore confirmed Hilton had been charged with misdemeanor because his blood alcohol level was .14 - nearly twice the legal limit. Meanwhile, it has emerged Hilton's family found out about his arrest through media reports. His father Rick tells Usmagazine.com, "I haven't been contacted yet by either my son or the police. If what I have heard is true, it is very disturbing and I will have a lot to say - but it will be to my son not the media." However, older sister Paris tells Hollyscoop.com, "I am sad for my little brother. I hear he is doing OK. I am there for him and will be speaking to him in an hour or so, hopefully, to lend my support."

Carrey & McCarthy Dismiss Pregnancy Report

Comedian Jim Carrey and his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have denied a report claiming they're expecting their first child together. McCarthy's TV presenter friend Chelsea Handler made an impromptu announcement during her U.S. talk show on Tuesday. The broadcaster told her audience: "And by the way, Jim, Jenny wanted me to tell you - she's pregnant." But Carrey and McCarthy insist their friend got it wrong. A spokesperson for McCarthy says, "She is not pregnant." Carrey has a 20-year-old daughter named Jane from his first marriage to actress Melissa Womer, while McCarthy has an autistic five-year-old son, Evan, with her ex-husband director John Asher.
