The private service to pay tribute to the 28-year-old, who was found dead in New York last month, took place at the Sony lot in L.A. on Saturday and also included a variety of figures from the movie industry and Ledger's agency CAA. Snipes Convicted For Failing To File His Taxes

Wesley Snipes faces three years behind bars after he was convicted of failing to file his taxes for five years in a Florida court on Friday. The Blade star was acquitted of tax fraud and filing a false claim, as well as three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a tax return. But now he must wait to see if he faces prison for not declaring his income from 1999 to 2004 in the proper manner, costing U.S. tax authorities millions of dollars. Outside court, after he was freed on bail, a relieved Snipes told reporters, "I'm feeling great (but) a little confused... It's nice to be out here with you right now." During the course of the two-week trial, Snipes' attorneys agreed the actor was "dead wrong" not to have paid taxes, but no fraud was perpetrated and that a trial was a waste of time.

Letterman Apologizes to Hilton

U.S. talk show host David Letterman publicly apologized to Paris Hilton on Friday night for hurting her feelings during an infamous 2007 interview. The late-night TV presenter upset the socialite when he grilled her about her prison stint last year and refused to change the subject when Hilton begged him to. So, when Hilton agreed to return to Letterman's Late Show to promote her new film The Hottie And The Nottie, the host decided it was time to make amends. Before introducing the hotel heiress, Letterman said, "I made a fool of myself and I hurt the woman's feelings. I went too far." The host revealed Hilton was adamant she'd never appear on the show again, but he tracked her down to apologize, sent her a letter and flowers, and implored her to change her mind: "I said... let me apologize to you in person. In 26 years of being on the air, I have offended thousands of people... but Paris, God bless her, has the backbone to come and be on the show." True to his word, Letterman began his chat with Hilton by apologizing for his behavior during their previous encounter, prompting his smiling guest to say, "I hope you got the whole jail thing out of your system." And the chat show host was on his best behavior, chatting to Hilton about her new film and helping her to promote her own sparkling wine, cell phone videogame and shoe, jewelry, watch, scent and clothing lines. The thrilled socialite had some kind words for the host when he asked her if she was glad to be back, stating, "You're being really well behaved so far. You're not being naughty." And, after swearing she'd return, Letterman presented Hilton with a bunch of flowers.

The film, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, was only supposed to play select theatres for a week, but ticket demand has forced Disney bosses to extend the project's big-screen run. The new movie becomes the biggest opener during a Super Bowl weekend and breaks records by topping the box office charts while playing at so few theatres - it opened on Friday in just over 2,000 cinemas, picking up an average of over $42,000 a venue.

'Arrested Development' Film Planned?

Actor Jason Bateman has confirmed plans are underway for a movie version of cancelled TV sitcom Arrested Development. A rumored meeting between the star and series creator Mitch Hurwitz late last year fuelled speculation a big-screen adaptation of the cult show was in the pipeline. And now the Juno star has confirmed the cast has received calls from executives asking if they would be interested in reviving their roles once the ongoing Hollywood writers strike is over. He tells E! News, "I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started. Any talk is targeting a post-strike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it's a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed."

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere was the star of honor at an animal rights demonstration in Washington, D.C. - and used the opportunity to call for an end to whale hunting. The 18-year-old actress made a passionate speech at the anti-whaling rally and urged Japan to outlaw the killing of the creatures for meat. According to People.com, she told the group of protestors, "Not only are these animals being cruelly slaughtered, the meat is contaminated by huge levels of mercury. And we're not taking a stand because Japan is one of our biggest allies in the war on terror, but Australia is an ally and they've told Japan what they think, and good on them!" Panettiere, who last year clashed with Japanese fishermen in a bid to save hundreds of dolphins from slaughter, is a spokesperson for the Save the Whales Again! Campaign and has set up her own auction website to help raise money for the cause.
