Sutherland Released From Jail

Actor Kiefer Sutherland has been released from jail. The 24 star - who served a 48-day sentence for drink-driving at the private Glendale City Jail - left the facility at 12:05am on Monday morning. Sutherland left the prison in the shirt and jeans he arrived in when he began the sentence on December 5, and carrying the personal belongings he brought with him. John Balian, the jail spokesperson, says, "(Kiefer) looked like he was glad to be out." The actor was visited only by his attorney while in jail, and is reported to have had little contact with the other inmates. In addition to the jail term, Sutherland was sentenced to five years probation and was ordered by a judge to complete an 18-month alcohol education program and six months of therapy.
Lohan & Murphy Lead Razzie Nominations
Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy both scored multiple nominations for the 2008 Golden Raspberry Awards - honoring the worst movies and performances of the past year. The annual ceremony - known as the Razzies - is a spoof of the Oscars, with the honors handed out a day before the famed Academy Awards. Lohan's 2007 movie I Know Who Killed Me received a staggering nine nods in the nominations, which were announced on Monday - a day before the Oscar nominees are revealed. The film is tipped in several categories including Worst Picture, Worst Director for Chris Sivertson and Worst Actress for Lohan. The Mean Girls star is nominated in this category twice as she played two different parts in the film. Golden Raspberry founder John Wilson insists Lohan's thriller deserves to lead the way at the 2008 ceremony. He says, "Lohan's movie played like a cross between the torture tale Hostel and The Patty Duke Show. For worst actress, Lohan polled more heavily than any actor since Sofia Coppola in The Godfather Part III. I Know Who Killed Me is the most fabulously brainless movie since Showgirls, which Razzie voters picked as the worst movie of the 1990s. By the end of it, you still don't know what happened. Can I please have my hour and 50 minutes back?" Eddie Murphy's 2007 comedy Norbit received eight nominations, including two for Murphy himself for Worst Actor and Worst Actress - as he also played the wife of the main character in the film. Wilson adds about Murphy's performance, "We decided that each of his characters was so offensive that he deserved individual nominations." The other Worst Picture nominees were Bratz, Daddy Day Camp with Cuba Gooding Jr. and I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, which starred Adam Sandler.

The Matthew Vaughn-directed Stardust will compete in the Outstanding Film - Wide Release category, against Across The Universe and The Jane Austen Book Club, while The Bubble, Whole New Thing and Dirty Laundry are just some of the nominees up for the Outstanding Film - Limited Release award. In the TV categories, Brothers & Sisters, Degrassi: The Next Generation, The L Word, Greek and Dirty Sexy Money are all in the running for Outstanding Drama Series, while Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Exes And Ohs, The War At Home and The Sarah Silverman Program will compete for Outstanding Comedy Series. The 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards nominations were announced at the Queer Lounge in Park City, Utah, on Sunday, and the winners will be revealed later this year.
Brolin To Play George W. Bush?

Legendary director Oliver Stone is set to make a movie about U.S. president George W. Bush - and he's appealing to Josh Brolin to take the title role. Stone, who has previously made movies about former presidents John F. Kennedy ( JFK) and Richard Nixon ( Nixon), is currently in talks with No Country For Old Men star Brolin and hopes that he will sign on for the currently untitled project. The 61-year-old moviemaker insists Brolin will be perfect for the role of the Republican president. He says, "Josh (Brolin) is actually better looking than (George W.) Bush but has the same drive and charisma that Americans identify with Bush, who has some of that old-time movie-star swagger. I want a fair, true portrait of the man," The director aims to begin production in April as the script - which was penned by Stanley Weiser, co-writer of Stone's 1987 film Wall Street - was completed before the start of the Hollywood writers strike in November.
Richards Fighting Sheen Over Reality TV Plans
Denise Richards is fighting ex-husband Charlie Sheen over her plans to include the former couple's two daughters in a new reality TV show. Sheen has refused to let his girls, three-year-old Sam and Lola, two, take part in the former Bond girl's TV plans - and so the ex-couple is going back to court later this week to fight it out. Sources tell news show Extra that Richards recently landed the reality TV deal, which will revolve around her life as a working single mum in Hollywood. In order for the girls to appear in the reality television show, Sheen has to approve but he has refused. Richards is asking the court to revoke Sheen's power as the children's father in this matter, so she can move forward with the show without his consent.
Page Pleased To Escape Hollywood "Brat Pack"
Juno star Ellen Page is glad her parents refused to let her move to Hollywood as she feared going off the rails like former child star Lindsay Lohan. The young actress was offered a role in a high profile U.S. sitcom at the age of 13 but her parents insisted she was too young to handle the pressures of fame and forced her to turn it down. But Page, now 20, insists her family were right and the move not only kept her grounded, but also saved her career because she went on to land a series of acclaimed roles. She says, "It's a good thing. I would have had to move to LA and I can't even imagine what I would be like now. They (her parents) said keep up your grades and then you can act." Page's portrayal of a pregnant teenager who gives her baby up for adoption in Juno earned her a nominated for Best Actress at this month's Golden Globes Awards.
Spears Arrives for Deposition
Britney Spears has finally arrived at lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan's Los Angeles office for an ongoing deposition in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline. The pop star has missed a string of appointments for the court-ordered cross examination with Federline's attorney, but made sure to turn up for the latest meeting on Monday morning. This comes a week after the singer failed to appear for a custody hearing in a Los Angeles court. Wearing jeans and a dark blue top, Spears was escorted to the deposition by companion Sam Lutfi. The singer is expected to face questions about her drug and alcohol use and her parenting skills. Kaplan plans to use testimony from Spears and other key witnesses to convince Los Angeles Commissioner Scott Gordon that his client, Federline, should retain primary physical custody of his two young sons with the pop star. Spears has been stripped of all custody and visitation rights following a string of ill-advised incidents. A custody trial is set for April.
Bush Nurses Knee After Snowboarding Accident

Actress Sophia Bush is nursing a severely bruised knee after injuring herself snowboarding. The One Tree Hill star, a newcomer to snowboarding, was holidaying in Whistler, Colorado earlier this month when she took on a slope way beyond her capabilities. She says, "I'm learning to snowboard. I was prepared for the cold with all the layers (of clothing), but the layers didn't help me so much when I ran into the mountain. I landed on part of my knee. I fell on Blackholm (Mountain). It was my own fault because I took a (skiing) lesson the first day and my instructor told me, 'Don't let your friends take you up the mountain tomorrow, because they're going to try and take you down runs that you're not ready for.' I went up to Whistler with a couple of guys from work - one of our stunt guys, Paul Johannson, and James Lafferty. And (reality TV star) Stephen Colletti was supposed to come with us, but he'd really hurt his shoulder the week before. So he's going, 'Be careful, it's really icy because it's so cold. Don't fall.' I'm like, 'I'm not going to hurt myself!' Cut to me laying in this pile on the mountain and I landed just on my knee. And I had all these little kids from ski school going by - and they're four - and they're shooting around me and I'm thinking, 'This is so humiliating.'" But Bush is grateful that her injury is on the mend. She adds, "Today's the first day that I actually don't have two knee caps (on one knee) and the bruising has gone down a lot."
Norris Blasts "Too Old" Presidential Hopeful McCain

Veteran action man Chuck Norris has hit out at Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain - insisting he's too old to move into The White House. The Missing In Action star, who is campaigning for fellow Republican candidate Mike Huckabee, claims American presidents age three times faster than the average person while in office. And he took aim at 71-year-old McCain during a Huckabee fundraiser in Texas on Sunday. He said, "Now I'm thinking if John takes over the presidency at 72, and if he ages three-to-one, how old will he be in four years? He'll be 84 years old. Now can he handle that kind of pressure in that kind of job?" And the 67-year-old also slammed another Huckabee rival, Mitt Romney. Norris said, "I think he's very shallow. I think everything he does is from the head. (He reads) a memorized script just like I do as an actor when I do a role. Nothing is coming from the heart."
Bobby Brown Facing Cocaine Possession Charges

R&B singer Bobby Brown is facing charges of drug possession after he was arrested in Massachusetts last month. The estranged husband of Whitney Houseon was taken into custody by police following an incident in a Brockton Holiday Inn hotel in December. According to Trooper Eric Benson, cops were called to the hotel shortly after midnight on December 1 to attend to a disturbance, and were directed to Brown, who was waiting in his car outside the building. Upon questioning, Brown was found to be in possession of cocaine, but attempted to convince the trooper to "use discretion" and not charge him for the drugs. Police are now seeking to charge the star with possession of a Class B substance, and Brown is due in Brockton District Court on February 1 to hear whether he will face prosecution.
Keaton's "High" Broadway Performances
Diane Keaton's first stage experience was a frightening one, she was drugged with a stimulant so she'd perform with more energy. Keaton cut her acting teeth in 1968 as one of the original New York cast of rock musical Hair. As it was her first acting job, the then 22-year-old didn't question the show doctor administering stimulant shots to cast members before each performance. She says, "At the time it was astonishing to have a job. It was odd. Before the show opened we got a shot by a doctor Bishop. A vitamin shot, only it was not vitamins. It was like methamphetamines. You were flying. A lot of people got addicted."
