Walsh Is Engaged

Grey's Anatomy star Kate Walsh is engaged to boyfriend Alex Young after a whirlwind romance. Young, the Co-President of Production at movie studio 20th Century Fox, proposed to the actress, 39, last week in San Francisco, California, presenting her with a Neil Lane Jubilee-cut diamond ring. Walsh gushes, "He's the most amazing man I ever met." The news of her impending marriage comes shortly after TV network ABC announced Walsh is to star in her own spin-off of the hit medical drama, with her character Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd fronting Private Practice. The show is also set to star Taye Diggs, Merrin Dungey, Amy Brenneman and Tim Daly.

Hilton To Serve 23 Day Minimum Sentence

Socialite Paris Hilton will serve at least 23 days in jail for violating her probation by driving with a suspended license, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department has announced. Hilton received a 45 day sentence earlier this month, but officials last week said she might be processed in and out of jail within hours due to overcrowding. However, spokesman Steve Whitmore yesterday said, "The Sheriff's Department is announcing that Ms. Hilton will do a minimum of 23 days in jail. The possibility that she will be processed in and out in a day is over. She will do her full time, minus 22 days because of a state jail policy encouraging good inmate behavior." Hilton is currently in the process of appealing her jail sentence, which she must begin serving by June 5.

Martin Luther King's Daughter Dead at 51

Martin Luther King's actress daughter Yolanda King has died in Santa Monica, California. The eldest of the late civil rights leader's four children passed away on Tuesday, although the cause of death is still unknown. Yolanda King, 51, was a prominent activist in her own right, and starred in films such as 2000's Odessa and 1996's Ghosts Of Mississippi. Paying tribute to the late actress, fellow activist Reverend Al Sharpton says, "Yolanda was the torch bearer for her parents and a committed activist in her own right. Yolanda never wavered from a commitment to non-violent social change and justice for all. She was the first daughter of the civil rights movement and never shamed her parents or her co-activists. As an artist and activist she refused roles that would belittle her family name and tradition."

Timberlake Goes Public with Biel

Justin Timberlake's romance with Jessica Biel is getting so serious the actress flew into the U.K. to see the pop superstar on his European tour. The couple were spotted out in Manchester, England, on Saturday holding hands and sharing intimate kisses while on a dinner date at high street restaurant chain Nandos. They were joined by super-producer Timbaland and Manchester United soccer star Alan Smith. Timberlake was first linked to The Illusionist actress at the Golden Globes in January - less than a month after he announced his split from girlfriend-of-four-years Cameron Diaz. A source tells British newspaper The Mirror, "Justin's really into Jess and when he found out she had some free time he asked her to join him on the U.K. leg of his tour. They're both doing everything they can to keep their relationship low-profile but when they're among friends they can hardly keep their hands off each other."

'The Long Good Friday' To Get Remake

Classic British crime film The Long Good Friday is getting a Hollywood makeover in Miami under the direction of Resident Evil moviemaker Paul W. S. Anderson. The 1980 original starred Bob Hoskins as a London gangster whose criminal empire comes under attack from a wave of mysterious bombings. But production company Handmade Films says the new movie would be "refreshed" with a modern setting. Chairman Patrick Meehan says, "The original was a highly praised classic and one of Handmade's most prized films, but its reach was limited primarily to the U.K. Following continued interest from the U.S., we realized this remake could attract audiences worldwide with an updated setting and contemporary overtones. When Paul presented his creative vision for this project, we were instantly convinced that this is a story that could be successfully refreshed, yet leave the integrity of the original intact." No actors have so far been cast for the project.

Stallone: "I Made a Terrible Mistake"

Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone has apologized for bringing banned growth hormone Jintropin into Australia. The Rocky Balboa actor was detained at Sydney airport by customs officials in February. They seized his luggage and later raided his hotel room and private jet in search of the substance. In a letter read on Tuesday to Sydney's Downing Center Local Court, Stallone said, "I made a terrible mistake. Not because I was attempting to deceive anyone but I was simply ignorant of your official rules. It was a hard-learned lesson and an eye-opener that the world is a complex society, and knowing the rules of your intending destination is of paramount importance. I wish to express my deepest remorse and again apologize." If convicted, the actor faces a fine of $22,000. He is due to be sentenced on Monday. The growth hormone at the center of the legal case is alleged to reduce body fat, build muscle, remove wrinkles and provide a range of anti-aging benefits.

'Baywatch' Crew "Covered Up" Hasselhoff's Alcoholism

David Hasselhoff's colleagues on hit TV show Baywatch tried to cover up his alcoholism, according to the actor's ex-wife Pamela Bach. Hasselhoff and Bach divorced in July 2006 after 16 years of marriage, and Bach claims his drinking became so bad she had to regularly take their two daughters to stay in a hotel. She tells American publication Us Weekly, "They knew it. They covered for him, just like I did." She adds, "There were many times during the marriage I would take the girls away from him. It would always be the Disneyland Hotel so the girls wouldn't know why we were leaving. I'd say, 'You got to stop drinking or I'm not coming home.' He would binge for up to 10 days, then dry out. It was a cycle. While he couldn't hide being drunk from me, he hid the bottles." A video of a drunken Hasselhoff hurling expletives at his teenage daughter was leaked to the press earlier this month.

Chesney Takes Top Prize at Country Music Awards

Kenny Chesney was awarded the top prize at Tuesday night's Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, taking home the Entertainer of the Year honor for the third consecutive time. The singer paid tribute to his fellow musicians George Strait and Keith Whitley as he accepted the award. He said, "When I first started playing music, I was in college and I would go rent all my equipment and put it in the back of a pick-up truck. The only thing I wanted to do was cut a record as good as Keith Whitley did, and I listened to that music over and over again." Chesney was also nominated in the Best Male Vocalist category, but lost out to Brad Paisley. American Idol winner Carrie Underwood won the award for Best Female Vocalist, and celebrated as her debut release, Some Hearts, was named Album of the Year. Other winners at the ceremony include veteran crooner George Strait, who took Song of the Year for "Give It Away," Rascal Flatts for Best Vocal Group and Brooks and Dunn for Best Vocal Duo - remaining unchallenged as they were crowned for the 14th time.

Selleck Rules Out 'Magnum' Movie Cameo

Actor Tom Selleck has ruled out a cameo role in a planned big screen version of his 1980s TV hit Magnum P.I. - because he refuses to trivialize the show. Selleck is against compromising the memory of a television show he is proud to have starred in by appearing in a big-budget movie making fun of it. He says, "I tell you what worries me - because I love Magnum and we have loyal fans - is they take these TV show titles, and they buy them and they spend $100 million on special effects, and then they make fun of them and trivialize it. Then they try and get the actor who used to be in it to do some ridiculous cameo to prove to the audience that it's OK. And I will not do that."

Sutherland's '24' Returns for Two More Seasons

Hollywood hardman Kiefer Sutherland's action show 24 has been commissioned for two more seasons. The actor - who plays agent Jack Bauer in the series, which is currently airing its sixth season - has signed a deal with Fox to keep the Emmy-winning thriller going until 2009. Executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon says, "We're re-creating the series. It is going to be a real-time thriller. Beyond that, it's an open book." It is believed the seventh series will return with a different cast and a new, non-Los Angeles location.
