Hasselhoff and Wife Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff and his wife suffered broken
bones when the actor lost control of the motorcycle they were riding and hit a
pavement curb.
Strong gusty winds were blamed for the crash on Thursday afternoon
on a busy street on Los Angeles' West Side, say police.
The crash threw Hasselhoff against a light pole, while his wife, actress Pamela Bach, fell onto the shoulder of the road. Police say both were wearing helmets.
They were taken to UCLA Medical Center, where Hasselhoff, 50, was
treated for possible lower back fractures, a broken rib and cuts and bruises,
according to police. Bach, 39, was treated for a fractured ankle and broken wrist.
Hasselhoff's publicist Warren Cowan says, "They're in a stable condition."
Cowan adds that Hasselhoff has canceled trips and interviews to promote the
upcoming TV movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.
Kidman Set for Aviation?

Flame-haired actress Nicole Kidman is poised to take on a role as yet another legend - classic screen sexpot Ava Gardner. The Hawaii-born beauty, who has earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of writer Virginia Woolf in The Hours, is set to team up with Leonardo DiCaprio in upcoming flick The Aviator. The screen star is reportedly in talks with Oscar-nominated director Martin Scorsese to star in the Howard Hughes biopic. A source tells American showbiz website Page Six, "They are in talks, but Marty is so busy trying to get an Oscar right now he hasn't made any final decisions."
Kevin Spacey to Play Bobby Darin

Actor Kevin Spacey is finally set to show off his singing skills in a long-awaited Bobby Darin biopic. Beyond The Sea, which begins shooting in June, has taken five years of planning to come together, with Spacey even announcing plans three years ago to take six months to devote time to vocal practice ahead of the film. The movie, to be directed by Spacey, had once been planned as a Warner Brothers picture, but the actor bought the rights from the film studio two years ago. Beyond The Sea will cover the 1940s to the 1970s, but Spacey stress, "It's not a liner story. And not a docudrama." And at the age of 43, Spacey is sure he'll look young enough to play the "Dream Lover" star, who died at the age of 37. He says, "Bobby always looked a little older - but if I waited any more I might be too old." He adds, "This is a film I've dreamed about doing for quite a while and it's taken to while to sort of get it all together. I'm a huge Bobby Darin fan." Spacey is also keen to emphasize he wants the Darin family to know he will treat the project "with respect." He sent letters to that effect to Darin's wife Sandra Dee and their son Dodd, who will be portrayed in the film.
Nolte Slams "Horrible" Hollywood

Legendary hellraiser Nick Nolte has launched a scathing attack on Hollywood - accusing movie makers of churning out films for "eight-year-old girls." The actor's latest movie The Good Thief steers clears of the Hollywood formula, something the star insists he will never get sucked into. He says, "I think the commercial aspect of Hollywood is horrible. I get offered some of that s***, but I haven't been pleased with it for a long time. I think Hollywood takes sentimentalism and uses it to manipulate - always looking for good endings, safe endings. Just lately I heard that the new thing was to look at what eight-year-old girls like. This is their new thrust. Honestly, come on! Eight-year-old girls? Just because a bunch of kids go see a movie doesn't mean it's a good movie. But this is the s*** you fight day in, day out." Nolte was arrested last year in Los Angeles for driving erratically, amid reports he was drunk or on drugs, or both. This, coupled with his desire to act in non-Hollywood movies, probably explains his disbelief at the $20 million asking price of some of today's biggest Tinseltown actors. He says, "It's a bit much, isn't it? I mean, for God's sake, when you have a third of your budget going in the pocket of your lead actor, it's leaving the support actors and character actors with no money at all. They just get paid scale. In certain cases they'll negotiate, if they feel the second lead is really important to the film. But at the end of the day, it mainly just leaves a lot of people out of work. It limits people's options tremendously."
Jealous J.Lo Angry About Ben's Secret Dance with Applegate

Angry Jennifer Lopez stormed out of a surprise lunchtime meeting with fiance Ben Affleck because she felt sure she'd wandered into a clinch between her man and his new sexy co-star. Affleck was rehearsing a scene for new movie Surviving Christmas with actress Christina Applegate when he started chatting to her about her role in celebrity burlesque revue The Pussycat Dolls. But just as Applegate was giving Ben a taste of her sexy dance act, Lopez walked in on the couple, and promptly marched off. Set sources claim Affleck ran after his wife-to-be and managed to calm her down before the couple disappeared to spend some quality time together in the actor's trailer.
Hayek Praised by Harsh Critic
Salma Hayek was terrified after bumping into the niece of the real-life character she plays in new movie Frida - and even more shocked to find the relative loved her role. Hayek - who plays Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in the biopic - had heard concerning things about Frida's family. But the actress was pleasantly surprised after their meeting at the Mexican premiere of the movie. She explains, "She's very, very difficult. She's very protective. She hates people doing biographies, she hates the commercialism, she hates people exploiting (Frida's partner) Diego and Frida's lives. She never liked any of the books and she denies that her mother ever had an affair with Diego, which is not true. At the party someone told me she wanted to meet me. I was shaking like a leaf. I thought, 'She's going to slap me in front of everyone.' I went to her table and she stared at me and shook her head. Then she grabbed my hand really tightly. I was so scared. I thought, 'Oh my God, here it comes.' She had tears in her eyes. She said, 'I don't know how you did it, but I want to thank you because I saw my aunt again. I came here to destroy you but you let me relive my childhood.'"
Winslet Shoots Down Wedding Reports
Titanic actress Kate Winslet is highly amused at reports she's set to wed her film-maker boyfriend Sam Mendes. The British beauty, 27, who divorced film-maker Jim Threapleton in 2001, has stepped forward to insist once again that she and 37-year-old Road To Perdition director Mendes have made absolutely no plans to walk down the aisle together. She says, "It's absolutely hilarious! There were articles that he'd proposed with a ruby engagement ring. Hello? I've never had a ruby in my life! Sam's never even given me a ring! We've never even had this conversation."
Gwyneth Throws Surprise Party for Mother

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her TV director brother Jake gave their mother Blythe Danner a 60th birthday to remember, when they threw her a surprise party. After telling Danner they were taking her to Los Angeles' Hotel Bel-Air on February 1 for a quiet dinner, Gwyneth and Jake lured her to the presidential suite, where about 20 guests, including Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg - who videotaped the festivities - were waiting. Guests feasted on a New Orleans-style buffet and fondly reminisced about Danner's late husband Bruce Paltrow, who died last autumn. A reveler says, "There was a lot of laughter and a lot of tears."
No Sweet Smells for Frost and Law

The troubled marriage of Jude Law and Sadie Frost shows no signs of mending - despite $1,500 of designer candles being set up in their bedroom. Interior designers at the British couple's new North London home purchased 40 of the bespoke $38 candles to be placed around a curved wall of their luxury bedroom. However, since their return from a holiday to Thailand over Christmas, a source claims, "They have not spent a single night together in their new home." Instead, Frost is living at the family home while Road To Perdition star Law is around the corner at their old house.
Justin and Christina Dance the Night Away
Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake have been spotted canoodling in a London club, sparking rumors of a romance. The pop pair attended a celebrity party at the posh Sketch restaurant before moving on to the 10 Room club, where Justin joined R&B act N.E.R.D. on stage. Christina danced as he performed and the two spent most of the rest of the evening strutting their stuff together. An onlooker says, "Christina wanted Justin to herself and was impatient when he wouldn't get off the stage. They finally disappeared into the VIP area for the rest of the night." The couple later retired to Justin's hotel. Other guests at the venue included Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and Jade Jagger.
Simon and Garfunkel to Reunite
Songwriting duo Simon & Garfunkel are to reunite for a world-wide tour after their forthcoming appearance at this years' Grammys. The acoustic troubadours are to reform for a special one-off performance in New York this Sunday, when they collect a life time achievement award, but the lure of incredible revenues from a reunion tour appears to have persuaded the pair to forget their much publicized differences. The "Mrs. Robinson" pair split up 33 years ago after creating some of the most well-loved music of the 1960's - and have endured a long-running rift since then. Secret negotiations are now underway between the long-estranged Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel for an extended world tour. However, the only remaining caveat is how the enormous profits - which will be generated from the concerts - will be split. A source tells British paper The Evening Standard, "Paul wants the split to be in his favor - after all he did write the songs. Art wants an even split down the middle, because he is the voice of Simon and Garfunkel." Another source adds, "Things are still strained between them, but they know how exciting the prospect of a reunion would be to people around the world."
