Griffin confirmed the show’s demise during a stand-up performance Friday night at Cincinnati’s Taft Theatre.
Kathy premiered last spring and, despite low ratings, was renewed for a second season (which kicked off in January).
Earlier this year, CNN commissioned a talk show pilot featuring Griffin and her New Years Eve sidekick Cooper. »

Steve Carell and James Gandolfini team for HBO 'Bone Wars' movie

James Gandolfini's next project for HBO will be somewhat lighter than his previous ones.
The former "Sopranos" star is joining Steve Carell ("The Office") for a movie called "Bone Wars," about competing paleontologists in the "great dinosaur rush" of the late 1800s, Deadline reports. It's based on a real-life feud between scientists Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh, who competed furiously in the search for dinosaur fossils.
Carell and Gandolfini will also serve as executive producers of the movie, which is searching for a writer.
The two actors currently co-star in "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," which hasn't done much at the box office in its three-plus weeks of release. The offbeat material here could suit them, though. It brings to mind the "Archaeology Today" sketch on "Monty Python's Flying Circus" (which you can watch below).
Gandolfini's last on-screen appearance on HBO was in the movie "Cinema Verite" in »

Did 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' get a new title?
28 minutes ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »
Joss Whedon fans found something intriguing buried in ABC’s website for advertisers: A page touting its heavily buzzed pilot S.H.I.E.L.D. revealing a new title and a more detailed description (below).
The title: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. A network representative tells EW that this title is not yet official. Keep in mind that titles often change during the development process (remember how Fox’s The Mindy Project was originally called It’s Messy?). At the very least, however, this title made it through enough layers of network approval to get previewed to Madison Avenue.
Personally, I prefer S.H.I.E.L.D. It »

Smash Recap: Liza With a B-Day
1 hour ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »
Nobody puts Liza in a corner! But apparently, NBC can (and will) put her — and her lively guest performance on Smash — in a Saturday-night primetime wasteland. Oh the indignity of it all!
Then again, so what if the Peacock net is using the weekends to burn off the polarizing little musical that could/(n’t)? We’re in the DVR era, for cryin’ out loud, and if we’ve stuck with The Romantic Trials of Karen Cartwright (and Her Inconvenient Frenemy Ivy Lynn) for this long, we might as well ride it out to the end, right? Right? Right.

'Doctor Who' Season 7 episode 7 review: 'The Rings of Akhaten' goes somewhere awesome
1 hour ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »
The first proper space adventure is a momentous occasion for any "Doctor Who" companion, and Clara's request that the Doctor show her "something awesome" paid off in a mostly delightful fashion in "The Rings of Akhaten."
After last week's somewhat bumpy third introduction to new co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman, this week's installment wasted little time sending the Doctor and Clara off on a life-or-death escapade in a far flung section of the universe. We also learned a bit more about Clara, the Doctor's obsession with her and that leaf Clara referred to as "page one."
This was the first "Who" episode written by "Luther" creator Neil Cross and above all showcased a childlike sense of wonder that may have seemed unexpected coming from a man known for dark detective drama. (It's a little less unexpected if you consider Cross' work as a co-writer on the recent Guillermo del Toro-produced horror film "Mama, »
