Kurt Cobain Died 19 Years Ago, But Legacy Lives On

Kurt Cobain died 19 years ago in his Seattle home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Were he still alive, he’d be 46-years-old.

At 27, Kurt Cobain had both fame and critical notoriety for his work as the lead singer and writer of many of Nirvana’s hit songs. When he died in 1994, he was survived by his wife, Courtney Love, daughter Frances Bean Cobain and the legacy of having fronted a truly iconic 90s grunge band. The tragedy of the sentient frontman’s death continues to cause both avid and causal fans to give pause.

Not only did Cobain come to epitomize the voice of a generation, his songs have survived into the next. Blending rough vocals that ranged from a whisper to a scream, blaring instrumentals and evocative and thoughtful lyrics, his legacy, bound up in Nirvana’s, lives on. Nirvana has sold over 25 million albums in the U.S. »

Jonathan Knight Quits During New Kids On The Block Show

5 April 2013 9:00 PM, PDT

Jonathan Knight, New Kids on the Block singer, left the stage mid-show during the band's concert in New York on Thursday.

New Kids on the Block had been performing hits off their records from the 80s and 90s, as well as some new singles during the concert. At one point, Knight began to look dazed, according to reports. He “seemed out of it,” reported HollywoodLife.com. “While the men started their choreographed dances, Jonathan stood uncomfortably in the background – actually just standing and texting on his phone during the performance.”

When Knight’s brother, Jordan Knight, announced that he’d sing “Survive You” from 10, Knight couldn’t do it. He attempted to begin the song, and although he had the support of his bandmates arms around him, he ended up walking off the stage, according to Billboard.

Knight, who was urged back to the stage from the fans, never came back out. »

President Obama Apologizes To Kamala Harris For ‘Best Looking’ Remark

5 April 2013 9:00 PM, PDT

President Barack Obama called California District Attorney Kamala Harris to apologize for having dubbed her the “best-looking attorney general in the country.”

Obama’s said in remarks on Thursday: “You have to be carful to, first of all, say she is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you’d want in anybody who is administering the law, and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake. She also happens to be, by far, the best looking attorney general in the country.”

White House press secretary Jay Carney, during his daily press briefing, addressed Obama’s gaffe, and stated that the president had reached out to Harris with an apologetic phone call later on Thursday evening. “He apologized for it and regrets the distraction it caused,” Carney said.

Obama’s comment about Harris came during a speech at a fundraiser on Thursday. »
