If Paul Jolley ran things on American Idol, his Season 12 trajectory might have looked and sounded very different.
The recently ejected ninth-place finisher sat down for an Idology interview where he discussed a possible solution to the show’s sometimes tired theme weeks, the Bon Jovi song he’d prefered to have tackled instead of Lonestar’s “Amazed,” and his feelings on rival Lazaro Arbos covering the same Keith Urban track he’d picked in the Season 12 Vegas Rounds.

Pilot Scoop: Matt Long Is One of ABC's Lucky 7

Private Practice/Mad Men alum Matt Long has been tapped to star in ABC’s drama pilot Lucky 7, TVLine has learned.
From Detroit 1-8-7‘s David Zabel and Jason Richman, the project centers on seven employees at a Queens-area service station whose lives are forever altered when they win the lottery.
The actor will play one of the “lucky,” jackpot-landing employees.

Ratings: Happy Endings Down in Friday Debut

ABC’s Happy Endings christened its new time slot with demo numbers that were below its most recent Tuesday broadcasts and well shy of what Tim Allen and Reba McEntire were doing in Friday’s opening hour.
The transplanted sitcom’s first episode drew 3 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating with the coveted 18-49 crowd, while its second installment at 8:30 pm dipped to 2.4 mil/0.7.
For comparison’s sake, Happy Endings averaged 3 mil with a 1.3/1.2 two months ago on a Tuesday, while the Last Man Standing and Malibu Country season finales one week ago averaged north of 7 million and a »

Doctor Who News: David Tennant, Billie Piper On Board for 50th Anniversary Special

At least one former Time Lord and companion — David Tennant and Billie Piper– are officially on board for Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary special, to start filming this week in the UK.
Additionally, John Hurt (Alien) has been cast in the BBC America special, which was written by Steven Moffat and will be directed by Nick Hurran.
The news comes just as Doctor Who Season 7 resumes, tonight at 8/7c.

TVLine has learned that the Grammy-nominated songstress — whose ballad “Gravity” has been showcased on the series and utilized in countless Greendale ‘shipper tributes — will guest-star in the NBC comedy’s upcoming puppet-themed installment.

The crime-fighting series — which endured its first axing at the hands of Fox in 2011 — has not been renewed for a 26th season by Lifetime, the cabler it currently calls home, TV Guide Magazine reports.
