First look at Beast from X-Men: Days Of Future Past
5 April 2013 2:54 PM, PDT
Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter once again, to give us a behind the scenes look at his return to the X-Men universe with Days Of Future Past. He has posted a picture at the new make design for Beast, once again played by Nicholas Hoult. This new look is departure from the feline inspired look of First Class, and is more in keeping with how the character first appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand, portrayed by Kelsey Grammer. The tweet also included a quote from the original writings of Beauty And The Beast, which perfectly sums up the character of Hank McCoy: "Many a monster wears the form of a man; it is better of the two to have the heart of a man & the form of a monster" Released: July 18th 2014 »

Dark Skies Review
5 April 2013 2:42 PM, PDT
The biggest thing I take away from Dark Skies is that it comes from Scott Stewart, the same man who brought us Legion and Priest. Both those movies were dumb but fun pieces of effects heavy action, but with Dark Skies he is on a different tack, creating a genuinely creepy tale of an other worldly incursion on a typical American family. The family in question are the Barrets, wife Lacey (Kerri Russell), husband Daniel (Josh Hamilton), and their two sons, 13 year old Jesse (Dakota Goyo) and the younger Sam (Kadan Rockett), whose lives are turned upside when strange events plague their home. Starting small (like food being thrown over the floor and security alarms being triggered), they soon escalate (the mass bird attack which is central to the movies ad campaign), until the Barrets' lives are put in real danger. There is a real sense of unease about this »

Tense new clip from Olympus Has Fallen
5 April 2013 5:02 AM, PDT
After a stormer of an opener in the States, Olympus Has Fallen is making its way over to this side of the pond and we’ve got a new tense (ish) clip with Morgan Freeman! Watch it below! Personally, I can’t wait for this (and Whitehouse Down as well). Sure it’s a big ol popcorn flick, but its dealing with something that you never really see ie The Whitehouse getting demolished (and yes I didn’t forget Independence Day) Synopsis: When terrorists take over the White House, a disgraced Secret Service agent attempts to rescue the president of the United States in Olympus Has Fallen, an electrifying and ingenious action thriller from acclaimed director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). A small group of heavily armed, meticulously trained extremists launches a daring daylight ambush on the White House, overrunning the building and taking President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and his »

The Great Gatsby Trailer Must Watch
5 April 2013 4:42 AM, PDT
Maybe I’m jumping the gun, but if DiCaprio doesn’t get some awards for The Great Gatsby then there is no justice in the world. The new trailer for The Great Gatsby hammers home how amazing this movie will look, but also gives glimpses of sheer brilliance from DiCaprio. Tobey Maguire looks on fire here as well and this is certainly something that should be going straight to the top of your most see list! Anyway, enough of my meandering, hit the play button! Synopsis: From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby. The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. “The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, »

The Great Gatsby New Character Posters
5 April 2013 4:35 AM, PDT
I’ve a feeling that The Great Gatsby could be one of the more visually striking movies of the year, and this latest bunch of character posters certainly hold true to that notion. “The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and »

New images from The Wolverine
5 April 2013 4:29 AM, PDT
Some new images from The Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman have turned up in my inbox. For some reason the first image looks like Wolvy and company are in a Tesco, but anyway. I wonder is this the last throw of the dice for Wolverine in the current guise? Surely it needs to do a Dark Knight style reboot and have an epically dark version.!! Anyway, check out the new images below. Synopsis: Based on the celebrated comic book arc, “The Wolverine” finds Logan (Hugh Jackman), the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed. Released: 26th July 2013 (U.S./U.K./Irl) Via Fox »

New poster for Fast And Furious 6
5 April 2013 1:39 AM, PDT
The gang assembles for this new Fast And Furious 6, brought to us courtesy of Universal Pictures. I like the approach of the poster campaign, acting as the calm before the storm, because as we know from the trailer, things will get all manners of insane when the movie hits in May. Synopsis: Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom »

Carrie trailer
4 April 2013 5:57 PM, PDT
A full length trailer for Kimberly Pierce's Carrie has been unveiled, and while I'm a huge fan of the original movie and novel, this remake seems to be pushing all the right buttons so far. It may give too much away, but then again, Carrie is such a well known story that maybe it's just giving people what they want to see. The scenes of Prom destruction look suitably epic (even though that last shot of Chloe Garce Moretz just looks weird), and there seems to be spot on performance across the board. This should be one to watch out for. Synopsis: The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local »

The Odd Life Of Timothy Green Review
4 April 2013 2:34 PM, PDT
The Odd Life Of Timothy Green is certainly an odd little movie. Telling the story of a childless couple who bury a box in their backyard which contains all their wishes for a child. Things start to get odd when a a young boy, named Timothy (who’d have guessed?) appears in their house, seemingly after growing out of the ground. Timothy is like most boys his age except for the fact that he has leaves growing out of his legs. With Timmy well about to hit his early teens, Cindy and Jim are thrown into parenthood with a bang and they go on a journey of raising Timmy the tree boy. Jennifer Garner is on top form here. From the first moment she appears on screen, she lights it up. She has a really solid presence and really belts out the emotion when required. The same can almost be »

We recently spoke to Joseph Kosinski (well Tom spoke to him, I was in man flu prison) about Oblivion and Tom asked him about Tron 3. The director said that they are working on the script right now and that they have an exciting idea that should deliver on the promise at the end of Tron Legacy. Listen for yourself below. »

Only God Forgives red band trailer
4 April 2013 3:14 AM, PDT
Ryan Gosling is back in front of the camera for Drive director Nicholas Winding Refn with Only God Forgives. If the poster for the movie, featuring a battered Gosling, wasn't any indication, some of what goes on in this film will unrelentingly brutal, but judging from the below, Nsfw trailer also oddly beautiful. Synopsis: When his brother is murdered by a ruthless Thai police lieutenant, Julian, a former kickboxer and gangster living in Bangkok, is forced to seek vengeance or risk his own death. Released: May 23rd (U.S.)/ ? (U.K./Irl) »

Tom Cruise talks about Les Grossman movie
3 April 2013 2:13 PM, PDT
Tom Cruise hit Dublin for the European premiere of Oblivion earlier tonight, and Tom was on the red carpet. When asked about his incredibly memorable Les Grossman character from Tropic Thunder, Cruise said that himself and Justin Theroux haven’t cracked the script just yet. Grossman is a character that the Top Gun star absolutely loves and dusts him off from time to time. Besides a full length movie, both Theroux and Cruise have talked about a series of internet sketches and shorts! Anything, and I mean anything with Les Grossman would be nothing short of brilliant! Watch this space!!! »

Tom Cruise receives certificate of Irish Heritage
3 April 2013 8:54 AM, PDT
Tom Cruise is in Dublin today (and yes we’re on the red carpet in a bit, follow @themoviebit) for the European premiere of Oblivion and while he’s in town, our beloved politicians figured it’d be a good photo op :) On a serious note though, Tom was presented with a certificate of his Irish Heritage by the Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore. Tom joked that he was there to reclaim his land, and considering the state of the economy at the moment, he’d get us pretty cheap too. The Top Gun star also toured around Dublin, and stopped off for a pint of the black stuff at The Guinness store house. Photo Credits - Mark Stedman/Photocall Ireland »

Disney’s Planes Sneak Peek
3 April 2013 12:42 AM, PDT
I was lucky enough to see some of Planes a few months ago and it looks like it could be alot of fun. And while it looks like it might be straight out of Pixar, this is not a Pixar movie. It’s Disney themselves firing the polygons around the screen. It’s got lots of clever little touches (that I’ve seen) and one of those is quite obvious in the following clip. Watch out for the airport in the shape of an aeroplane, complete with a rather epic tail. This clip was originally shown exclusively in AMC Theatres in the States and now it’s online via Disney. And I just can’t help feeling an overwhelming urge to play Afterburner!! Or watch Top Gun again! Synopsis: Dusty is a cropdusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race. The problem? He is hopelessly afraid of heights. »

Grown Ups 2 Trailer
3 April 2013 12:06 AM, PDT
When the original Grown Ups hit cinemas in 2010, I wasn’t impressed..to say the least. The review included the following… Sometimes, I wonder how movies get the green light? Do you ever wonder how a movie actually got the funding to be made? Well if you never have pondered that question, Grown Ups will change your train of thought. And… There’s no story, there’s no laughs, there is nothing here. I hate to say, given there’s a pretty strong cast here, but Do Not Go To See This Movie. It’s pointless, meandering drivel and a more entertaining time is had by pushing a shopping trolley! Proving that cinema audiences don’t really listen to critics (and sure why would they?) Grown Ups went on to gross a whopping $271, 430, 189 worldwide. With that in mind, a sequel was inevitable. And here’s the trailer for it. I »

Trailer for The Conjuring
2 April 2013 12:23 PM, PDT
When a movie gets an R rating for intensity, instead of the usual sex, violence, language, or drug use, you should really take notice of it. That is exactly what has happened with James Wan's (Saw, Insidious) The Conjuring. Starring Patrick Wilson (re-teaming with Wan after Insidious) and Vera Famiga, it tells the story of paranormal investigator's Ed and Lorraine Warren, and theri investigation of strange goings on in a New England farmhouse. The new trailer, released by Warner Bros., is absolutely fantastic, building up the sense of unease nicely, and packing in some good scares. With Insidious and Sinister, the horror genre has being slowly clawing it's way from the days when hyper violent sequels and ill advised remakes were the best it could offer. With The Conjuring, that rise is set to continue. Released: 19th July »
