But what elevates the domestic goddess’s binge-watching from that of your everyday entertainment junkie is her method: “I have a big TV in my kitchen, so I can do canning or make jam. That takes hours and hours, and I can watch Homeland, all 13 episodes .”
Fellow PBS program Downton Abbey is another addiction. “It’s a soap opera, but there are no grammatical mistakes, »

'Hannibal' ratings: Better than NBC expected?
5 April 2013 8:29 AM, PDT
Hannibal performed better last night than many had feared given its brutal time period.
Coming in third place in NBC’s 10 p.m. Thursday “death slot” against original episodes of ABC’s Scandal and CBS’ Elementary, the new crime drama had 4.3 million viewers and a 1.6 in the adult demo. That’s NBC’s best rating in the hour with entertainment programming in more than a year. It’s up 78 percent from the debut of the short-lived Do No Harm in January and climbed 45 percent from its special Go On lead-in.
What’s surprising is that NBC decided not to give »

NBC's 'Hannibal' contains 'The Shining' shout-outs
4 April 2013 5:18 PM, PDT
Heeeeeeere’s Hannibal!
Tonight’s premiere of NBC’s Hannibal (see Jeff Jensen’s review here) is probably one of the most Stanley Kubrick-ian hours of TV ever made. Showrunner Bryan Fuller was heavily influenced by late filmmaker genius and has filled his new series with subtle (and not-so-subtle) homages to Kubrick’s work. Hannibal is particularly influenced by one of Kubrick’s most commercially successful films — 1980′s The Shining. In fact, there’s even one set (photos above) that’s directly inspired by a famous moment in the film. Below Fuller talks about Kubrick and the filmmaker’s influence on the show, »

HBO Films confirmed Thursday they are developing a movie about former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev with the help of Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. Neither actor will be donning that distinctive birthmark, though. They’re just helping to make sure the project comes to life through their respective production companies — DiCaprio’s Appian Way, and Hanks’ Playtone. This news was first reported by Deadline.
The film will chronicle Gorbachev’s time as president »
