Facebook introduces 'Home' -- A way to learn what your friends are doing, without having to talk to them
4 April 2013 11:48 AM, PDT
Today Facebook introduced Home, which it calls ”a completely new experience that lets you see the world through people, not apps.”
Home, which isn’t really an app or an operating system or anything, ”replaces the lock screen and home screen” of your phone so that from the moment you think ”Hey, what time is it? Let me check my phone”, you can see what all of your friends are doing on Facebook (without you). Home also has ”chat heads,” which pop up with your friend’s face on them, even when you’re using other apps. In general, Home »

Five ways 'Girls' can get rid of Charlie
4 April 2013 11:36 AM, PDT
Writing a character off of a popular TV show is always awkward, especially when that character was part of a major storyline development in a show’s most recent finale. Such is the case with Girls and Charlie, played by Christopher Abbott, who will not be returning for the third season of the award-winning dramedy.
With season three already in production, Abbott’s departure seems especially abrupt. It was only a few weeks ago, after all, in the show’s second season finale, that Marnie (Allison Williams) and newly rich Charlie officially declared their on-and-off union very much back on. »

Conan O'Brien and Chelsea Handler get slap-happy in the shower... naked -- Nsfw Video
4 April 2013 9:09 AM, PDT
Breaking news: Conan O’Brien has abs!
On last night’s episode of Chelsea Lately, Chelsea Handler had a very special guest: Late night’s favorite freakishly tall redhead, who wasn’t exactly sitting across from her in front of a live audience. Instead, in the sketch that echoed Handler’s stunt with Sandra Bullock, a naked Conan O’Brien walked in on Chelsea in the staff showers and started to pick a fight. According to Conan, Chelsea stole his studio (which includes the shower and its ah-mazing water pressure), his parking space, and his back massager.
After debating Chelsea’s nether regions, »

Late Night Wars redux: Who will you watch at 11:30? -- Vote
4 April 2013 7:25 AM, PDT
Less than one year from now, Jimmy Fallon will inherit late night TV’s most highly-coveted showcase: The Tonight Show.
Though the road to yesterday’s official announcement was a bumpy one — ousted host Jay Leno’s been joking about being knifed in the back by the snakes at NBC for weeks — the dust now seems to have cleared. Everyone from ABC rival Jimmy Kimmel to ex-Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien has issued congratulations to Fallon, a performer who seems to personify amiability. Even Leno tempered his barbs last night, calling Fallon “a hell of a guy” and saying »

On the scene: NKotB take it step by step at Andy Cohen's 'Watch What Happens Live'
4 April 2013 7:00 AM, PDT
When Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen described the members of New Kids on the Block as the first boy band-turned-man band, he wasn’t kidding. Faster than you could say “Mazel!” the Beantown balladeers were talking about Joey McIntyre’s junk, and the adult conversation didn’t stop until the Wwhl aftershow cameras clicked off.
Fresh off the release of their album 10, McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight were eager to take on everything Cohen had on tap. As is custom at the Bravo Clubhouse, this included cheekily named games with titles like »

Disney to shut down game maker LucasArts
3 April 2013 5:49 PM, PDT
Bad news for Star Wars game fans: Disney, which purchased the LucasFilm empire late last year for a cool $4.05 billion, has announced that it is closing its LucasArts game-making subsidiary.
The Mouse House will no longer develop LucasArts games internally and will instead license its brands, including Star Wars and Indiana Jones, to external developers.
“After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games,” LucasFilm said in a statement released to EW. »

Bill Clinton to be honored at GLAAD Media Awards
3 April 2013 1:40 PM, PDT
Barack Obama may be America’s “first gay president” — but Bill Clinton is the (former) commander-in-chief GLAAD has chosen to honor at its Media Awards in Los Angeles this month. (The advocacy group’s New York Media Awards ceremony was held March 16 in Manhattan; its San Francisco awards are scheduled for May 11.)
Clinton will receive GLAAD’s inaugural Advocate for Change Award. The ex-president began advocating for marriage equality in 2011, worked against North Carolina’s proposed amendment to ban both marriage and civil unions for gay couples, and recently penned an op-ed urging the Supreme Court to overturn the Defense »

Dissecting Harrison Ford's bee-zarre interview with 'Entertainment Tonight' -- Video
3 April 2013 1:00 PM, PDT
Harrison Ford is not a funny actor. He doesn’t do funny movies. But he certainly made us laugh in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, talking about two upcoming roles — as the man behind Jackie Robinson in 42, and a small part in Anchorman 2. The latter film, as we learn, stars “Applesauce Girl” and “Whatshisname.”
Poor Christina Applegate. At least Ford’s character won’t be like his jowly turn as a newscaster in 2010′s Morning Glory. “I hope it’s a little different. One hates to repeat themselves. They asked me to do it before they knew I had done Morning Glory, »

Why? Because The Middle star loves Mean Girls (she used to say biting lines from the movie on her own boyfriend!) and Even Stevens and admits to weird childhood crushes.
Sue Heck has recently found love on The Middle, which airs Wednesdays on ABC, but we’re officially crushing on Eden. Watch below:

Jon Hamm spends '7 Minutes in Heaven' with a very lucky guy -- Video
3 April 2013 11:53 AM, PDT
Comedian Mike O’Brien doesn’t usually get much more than a peck (if he’s lucky!) from the male guests that stop by his closet for the popular web series 7 Minutes in Heaven, but leave it to Jon Hamm to really take things to the next level.
This latest installment opens with an especially spicy reading of a mock Mad Men script where Hamm-as-Don Draper admits he didn’t cheat on his wife and instead went home and “took care of it solo, if you know what I mean.” Later, there is a visit from a tickle spider and »

Warner Bros. unveils 'Archive Instant': Here's what you should stream first
3 April 2013 11:16 AM, PDT
Warner Bros. — owned by Time Warner, like EW — has made the decision to launch its own video streaming service (exciting!) coupled with the announcement that said service will stream movies and TV shows from its back-catalog — the old and the black-and-white. Unexciting? Not at all. The service, dubbed “Archive Instant” has 127 titles available so far and is offering subscribers a 2-week free trial. That’s more than enough time to binge on the highlights, including Cat People (pictured), as well as the first 13 episodes of Adventures of Superman: Season 1.
Here are our picks.
