Media scrums are an extended part of a journalist’s job, but the scrummage in the press room at Toifa was a fascinating look into the disorganized proceedings around this event. Given around 3 minutes each, tv channels and magazines like ourselves had to throw out one or three questions in this shortened time period. Thankfully, I managed to speak to the candid Manish Malhotra, who addressed his answers to all of us journalists in the room, and the shy Prabhu Deva, who enjoying the Vancouver scene around him and the lovely Aditi Rao Hydari.

Actor Ali Zafar took out time from filming Aman Ki Aasha in London to speak to Sunny Malik for BollySpice about his next release, Chashme Baddoor. Chashme Baddoor also stars Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher and is directed by David Dhawan.

What does the title Chashme Baddoor mean?

Chahsme Badoor relates to a woman’s beauty. It means that may the evil away be kept away. As you know the film is a remake of the 1981 film, of the same name. David Dhawan has directed the film.

Salman Khan and Govinda said that David often walks into the frame without saying cut. Did he do that during Chashme Baddoor?

Yes, he did (laughs). He feels a lot and gets very emotional. He sometimes would just walk into the frame because he is an old-school director and does not watch the monitor during a take. »

Special Report: Toifa Musical Extravaganza- Video Added!

5 April 2013 4:15 PM, PDT

One of the most dazzling events to kick start the Times of India Film Awards was the opening night’s Musical Extravaganza held Thursday night at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Hosted by the peppy and energetic Neha Dhupia, the concert featured Sunidhi Chauhan, Mohit Chauhan, Hard Kaur, Shalmali Kholgade, Abbas Hassan, and Kavita Seth. It was an evening full of wild flames, wonderful dancing, but felt rather improvisatory and rushed.

The event started a full half an hour late, which you can naturally forgive given the amount of prepwork that goes into pulling off such a huge event. When we hit the show running, choreographer Shiamak Davar decided on the unconventional route and sang his signature tune, ‘Jaane Kisne’. Instead of bringing out his troupe, Davar sang his tune around the stage alongside two dancers conveying that yearning and hope to the seductive beat. Davar can hold a tune »

Sanjay Dutt’s Ghanchakkar cameo called off

4 April 2013 11:46 PM, PDT

The Supreme Court recently passed a verdict which will see Sanjay Dutt serve his remaining three and half years in prison, having already spent 18 months in jail previously. This verdict has resulted in his cameo in the upcoming Ghanchakkar to be cancelled due to Sanjay’s circumstances and his surrender.

A source told Ndtv, “Sanjay has been running against time to complete all his pending projects. He had a cameo in Vidya Balan’s next where he was supposed to play himself. The actor had agreed to do the role at his Lage Raho Munnabhai co-star’s insistence.”

It would seem no one else would be able to play this role but Sanjay himself, as another source added, “The role was perfect for Sanju Baba as he had to just play himself. So no one else can replace him. It’s just a cameo while there are other semi-completed projects awaiting his return. »
