Wildstorm's Supernatural: Beginnings End

DC Comics 'Wildstorm' imprint will publish a new 6-issue comic book series based on the long-running Vancouver-lensed horror TV series Supernatural. Created by Eric Kripke, starring actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, Warner Bros. Television has so far produced 90 episodes of Supernatural since debuting in 2005. Executive producers of the show are Eric Kripke, McG, David Nutter and Robert Singer. Premise follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they hunt down demons and other figures of the paranormal. The first issue of Supernatural: Beginnings End will be released January 20, 2010, from the TV series writing team of Andrew Dabb/Daniel Loflin, with illustrations by Diego Olmos. Toronto's Cinespace Opening Up More Space

Toronto's east-end located Cinespace Film Studios, currently working on Resident Evil: Afterlife and Saw 7 will open a new 30-acre studio complex in Toronto's west-end Etobicoke, with over 1,000,000 square feet of working space. A 10-minute drive midway between Pearson Airport and downtown Toronto, the new studio currently has 50,000 square feet of production office space available, with 'cinespace' soundstages to be ready by early 2010. Cinespace president Steve Mirkopoulous made the announcement, coinciding with the Ontario Liberal government, voting into law, the 'enhanced' Ontario film tax credit, refunding 25% of eligible spending, effective as of June 30. Syfy Is Sweet On Stargate Universe

Syfy has given an additional 20-episode order to the Vancouver-lensed TV series Stargate Universe, averaging 2.6 million viewers per episode. With a fall-finale cliffhanger that abandons 'Dr. Rush' (Robert "Trainspotting" Carlyle) on a planet, the show's second half will become more serialized and "...build on the fractures within the show's group of spaceship-trapped castaways...." Stargate Universe is set on the ancient ship 'Destiny', launched from Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago to seed the universe with 'Stargates'. The series begins when a team of soldiers and scientists from present-day Earth step through the Stargate and find the Destiny, discovering most of the ship's primary systems are failing, with the crew unable to return to Earth. Set in 1983, following the first implementation of 'Automated Teller Machines', High Life is a new Canadian feature, lensed in Winnipeg, written/directed by Gary Yates, starring Timothy Olyphant, Rossif Sutherland, Joe Anderson and Stephen McIntyre. In High Life, following a visit from his former cellmate 'Bug' (McIntyre), 'Dick' (Olyphant) gets fired from his job as a hospital janitor. Afterlife Producer Sees 3 D Musketeers

Producer Jeremy Bolt, currently in Toronto shooting the 3D Resident Evil 4: Afterlife has confirmed he is planning to use the same 3D camera system director James Cameron utelized in the Fox feature Avatar, for a fresh take on the classic public domain novel "The Three Musketeers", by author Alexandre Dumas. "Yes, it will be Three in 3D," said Bolt about Three Musketeers. "We've learned so much from this film (Afterlife), it would be a pity not to build on that...We have a script ready to go...so we'll probably be shooting (Three Musketeers) in late summer..." IMAX Corporation and Summit Entertainment will release The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in Summit's Twilight franchise and second feature lensed in Vancouver, to IMAX theatres simultaneously with the film's launch June 30, 2010. Directed by David "Hard Candy" Slade, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be digitally re-mastered into the image/sound quality of 'The IMAX Experience' using proprietary 'IMAX Dmr' (Digital Re-mastering) technology.
