5 April 2013 11:21 PM, PDT

Director: Fede Alvarez. Writers: Fede Alvarez, Diablo Cody, Sam Raimi and Rodo Sayagues. Cast: Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore. Fede Alvarez's version of the Evil Dead takes place thirty-two years after the original. Sam Raimi is still here to produce this version, along with former showrunner Bruce Campbell. But, the 2013 version is much bloodier than the original. Evil Dead fans might be disappointed by the lack of campy humour from the first film, but Alvarez's interpretation is quite spine-chilling. Most horror fans will be satisfied by this new vision. The story has changed somewhat from the original. Instead of a sex romp, five friends set off for an isolated cabin for a drug intervention; Mia (Jane Levy) is the addict. The others vow to stay at the location, until Mia gets clean. Mia encounters more challenges, however. A friend, Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci »

Director: Lowell Dean. Writer: Christian Piers Betley. Cast: Katharine Isabelle, Brendan Fehr, Brendan Fletcher and Nick Moran. 13 Eerie is a zombie thriller. This title was filmed in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in an abandoned animal park. The setting is appropriately isolated. The acting is equally well done. Yet, 13 Eerie follows a few horror formulas, which offer only a few shocks. 13 Eerie still manages to be an entertaining time, despite some drawbacks. The story involves several forensic students. They are tasked by their teacher and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to examine several corpses on a body farm. They gather evidence and document their findings. But then, the bodies start moving. The students must now find a way off the island, before the corpses dine on them. The undead are especially ferocious in this piece And the characters are believable. Katharine Isabelle (American Mary) delivers a compelling performance as Megan. Megan is a fighter and. »

R Prefers Warm Bodies Over Brains: A Movie Review

1 April 2013 10:09 AM, PDT

Director: Jonathan Levine. Writers: Isaac Marion and Jonathan Levine. Cast: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Analeigh Tipton, Rob Corddry and Dave Franco. This reviewer is getting to the party a little late on Warm Bodies. This zombie film released in theatres back in February. However, this romantic comedy modernizes the Shakespearean Romeo and Juliet storyline, but places the film in a zombie apocalypse. In this chaotic climate, the protagonist and relaxed hero is able to reanimate himself, with help from Julie (Teresa Palmer) and love. This title is sometimes overly sappy; yet, director Jonathan Levine's (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) latest film is a light-hearted romp with R (Nicholas Hoult), an unusual and evolving zombie. The film's story begins in the aftermath of a biological hazard, or some other dire catastrophe. Here, R wanders about, going through his undead routine. He shuffles to and fro, while finding time to moan at his friend, »

"This Sorrowful Life" is episode fifteen of "The Walking Dead" and this showing is the preamble before season three's finale, "Welcome to the Tombs." This episode began with some slow pacing, which is reminiscent of an earlier season, but it finished strongly.
