Snoop Lion: Homosexuality May Never Be 'Acceptable' In Rap Music
22 hours ago
The artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg tells NME he doesn't think homosexuality will ever be fully acceptable in rap music.
The newly-christened Snoop Lion, who previously spoke out in support of same-sex marriage in an interview with HuffPost Entertainment, tells the publication that the "masculine" aspects of hip-hop music create unique challenges for gay musicians.
"It's like a football team," he said. "You can't be in a locker room full of motherf**king tough a** dudes, then all of a sudden say, 'Hey, man, I like you.' You know, that's going to be tough."
Of Frank Ocean, the Grammy-winning hip-hop artist who came out in a blog last year, the rapper noted, "He's a singer. It's acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don't know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine." Still, Snoop's personal take on the lesbian, gay, »

Inside The 'Mary Tyler Moore' Reunion
The cast of "Mary Tyler Moore" reunited for their "Hot In Cleveland" appearance on Thursday. And although Moore, Valerie Harper, Betty White and Cloris Leachman have kept in touch, the reunion was an emotional one.
"Did you ever laugh 'til you cried? That's been happening a lot," Valerie Harper (Rhoda) said, according to THR, while Moore added, "Even though we are playing different people [on 'Hot in Cleveland'], we are still ourselves, and no matter where you put us, we will continue to be ourselves and interact as only you can when you've been together for a long, long time."
As for White, the "Hot In Cleveland" star couldn't have been more thrilled to have the "Mary Tyler Moore" cast on her stomping grounds.
"We're grateful for the fact that we love each other. We've always gotten along," White said. "It would be different if it were one of those shows where we don't speak. »

George R.R. Martin On Roger Ebert
George Rr Martin and Roger Ebert might not have crossed professional paths often - Martin is best known for books and television, not the primary subjects of Ebert's commentary - but the Game of Thrones writer seemed to be hit hard by the critic's recent death.
Martin wrote on his blog (called Not A Blog) yesterday:
Roger (somehow I think of him as 'Roger,' not 'Ebert,' though I never met him in the flesh, and spoke to him only once, by telephone, in the early 1970s when both of us were young and dinosaurs roamed the earth) has been my favorite film critic since forever. I did not always agree with him, but I always found him insightful and fun to read. He was not just a terrific critic, he was a terrific Writer.
...
He was One of Us too. A fan, and an Sf fan at that. »

Bill Maher Trashes Libertarianism
6 April 2013 7:25 AM, PDT
On this week's episode of "Real Time," Bill Maher used his final "New Rule" of the night to take on Libertarianism and the conservatives whose obsessions with Ayn Rand have "ruined" the political philosophy for him.
Once a supporter of Libertarianism and its views on government intervention, Maher explained why he thinks politicians such as Paul Ryan and Rand Paul are "intellectually stuck in their teen years" and have turned a once promising movement into a free market-obsessed, "nanny state"-fearing delusion.
Maher went on to defend his new views on Libertarianism by mocking the party's tendency to reject government services even when they are arguably very useful:
"To everyone who keeps trying to shame me about abandoning my Libertarian moorings, my message is this: I didn't go nuts, this movement did. Like when you see a stop light, your reaction should be 'Great, an easy way to ensure we »

Ray J Disses Kim Kardashian With 'I Hit It First'
6 April 2013 7:17 AM, PDT
In 2007, Kim Kardashian famously made a name for herself with the release of a sex tape with her then-boyfriend, hip-hop artist Ray J. Kardashian, who was simply referred to as "Ray J's ex" at the time, became a major star in her own right - building a multi-million dollar empire of television shows, clothing lines, and beauty products.
While Kardashian's notoriety has been on the rise, since 2007, Ray J's star-power has slightly diminished. He hasn't released a studio album since 2008 and his stint as an actor didn't quite take off.
Kardashian may have once capitalized off of Ray J's name, but now the recording artist seems to be hoping to do the same with Kardashian.
Ray J teased a new single on Friday, expected to be included on his upcoming album. Called "I Hit It First," the cover artwork for the single (shown below) appears to be a pixelated photo of Kardashian. »

'She's Not Gonna Start Burning Bras'
6 April 2013 7:12 AM, PDT
Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) will return for a sixth season of "Mad Men" on Sunday night. And while she's left Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce behind, Moss doubts that Peggy -- who is famous for her progressive ideals -- will become a diehard feminist as the show ventures into the '70s.
"She's not going to be a hippie, she's not gonna start burning bras," Moss told Vulture. "She's a different kind of feminist. She's the one who works really hard, and concentrates on her job, and wants to move up in the world of her business. And her progressiveness and her brand of feminism -- it comes in probably a bit of a more realistic way, you know?"
As Peggy moves into unknown professional territory in the coming season, Moss thinks the issue of sexism will take a back seat in Peggy's life.
"I think the sexism part of it »

Lewis Run, Pa. — Wesley Snipes has been released from a federal prison in Pennsylvania.
Snipes was convicted in 2008 on tax charges. He was released Tuesday and placed under home confinement. A Bureau of Corrections spokeswoman said Friday he'll be overseen by the New York Community Corrections Office until July 19.
Snipes has appeared in dozens of films, from "White Men Can't Jump" and "Demolition Man" in the early 1990s to the "Blade" trilogy. He entered the McKean prison in December 2010 to begin a three-year sentence for failure to file income tax returns.
Snipes belonged to a group that challenged the government's right to collect taxes. Prosecutors say he failed to file returns for at least a decade and owed millions of dollars in back taxes.
Snipes had appealed in an Atlanta court, saying he didn't get a fair trial. »

5 April 2013 8:34 PM, PDT
Joss Whedon is apparently still loyal to his Whedonverse alums and has reportedly cast "Angel" star J. August Richards in ABC's "Avengers" spinoff series, "S.H.I.E.L.D." According to TVLine, Richards has been tapped for a "super top-secret role," but no further details are available at this time.

Spoiler Alert: Lyndsy Fonseca On Alex's Shocking Actions
5 April 2013 5:59 PM, PDT
Spoiler Alert: Do not read on unless you have seen "Nikita" Season 3, Episode 16, titled "Tipping Point."
Did you see that coming, "Nikita" fans? After Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) and Sean (Dillion Casey) spent this week's episode searching for mutineers inside Division, Rachel's (Jessica Camacho) careless mention of reaching a "tipping point" during her interrogation revealed that Alex herself was involved in the plot, leading her to shoot Ryan (Noah Bean) to cover her tracks.
Now, Ryan is in a coma, and it appears that despite her protestations, Amanda (Melinda Clarke) did do something to Alex while our troubled heroine was imprisoned in South Ossetia, somehow subconsciously linking her dissatisfaction with Division to her memories of being sold into the sex trade. The Huffington Post caught up with Lyndsy Fonseca via phone to find out what's next for Alex after her betrayal, how her secret will affect her relationships with Sean and »

Tom Hanks' Amazing Tribute To Nora Ephron
5 April 2013 4:57 PM, PDT
New York -- Tom Hanks remembered the late Nora Ephron with jokes and tears at Friday's session of the Women in the World Summit here.
"Nora Ephron would never pass up a front-row seat at human folly, including her own," he said of his longtime friend, a witty and wise writer who died in June 2012 at age 71.
Her training as a journalist, Hanks observed, heavily influenced the way she thought about all her fictional writing.
"Nora's writing was about the world as witnessed by her. Everything was copy, but she was still her own editor," he said. "Collaborating with Nora meant you were one of her sources. She would ask you harmless questions and get you to talk."
"Her means of making a living made her living more fascinating," Hanks said.
He called those who had known her "lucky." Hanks' own work with Ephron stretched from the 1993 movie "Sleepless In Seattle »

He's Coming Back!
5 April 2013 4:33 PM, PDT
"The Vampire Diaries" is bringing Jeremy back ... or so we think.
The CW has confirmed TVLine's report that Steven R. McQueen, who played Elena's (Nina Dobrev) brother, will return to the series. But in what capacity? It remains to be seen.
Jeremy died at the hands of the mysterious and powerful Silas in a February episode of "The Vampire Diaries." When Elena finally came to terms with his passing -- thanks to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) telling her to turn off her humanity -- she burned down her family's house with Jeremy's body inside
Shortly after that episode aired, "The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec opened up to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of McQueen returning. "I think the storytelling truth of this show is that just because somebody is dead doesn’t mean you’ll never see them again, which, I think helps temper some of the grief when all is said and done, »

Jay Leno's Huge Payday
5 April 2013 3:47 PM, PDT
Jay Leno is set to receive $15 million to exit his NBC contract early, reports the New York Daily News citing insiders.
The "Tonight Show" host is currently contracted with the Peacock Network until September 2014, but has agreed to leave the show in February to make room for his successor, Jimmy Fallon. NBC decided to launch "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" in February 2014 to take advantage of the major advertising opportunities that will come with the Winter Olympics.
Last August, Leno volunteered to take a 50% pay cut to prevent major layoffs from the show, leaving his annual salary at an estimated $15 million. Since taking the "Tonight Show" job in 1992, Leno has famously declined to cash his NBC salary, living off his lucrative touring paychecks instead.
Leno's exit penalty is significantly less costly than the last time a "Tonight Show" host left the show. In 2009, Conan O'Brien cost the company $40 million »

'It Isn't Going To Be Pretty'
5 April 2013 3:10 PM, PDT
The probably-final season of "Dexter" is approaching, and Showtime has released a bloody promo for the Season 8 that features Michael C. Hall's serial-killer-of-serial-killers lamenting that, "Too many people have seen the full picture."
The promo begins with a close-up on a blood spatter pattern, with Dexter narrating. "I've always been a very neat monster, but lately, the truth has begun to spill ... I'm losing control. And the only thing I know for sure, is that it isn't going to be pretty," he says ominously.
The camera continues to zoom out on the blood spatter, until we see that the blood is actually an outline of Dexter's face. Creepy!
"Dexter" Season 8 premieres June 30 at 9 p.m. Et on Showtime.

Guitar-Makers' Struggle To Preserve A Rare Forest
5 April 2013 3:08 PM, PDT
Some of the world's most famous acoustic guitar-makers have come together to preserve the source of the wood in their iconic instruments. "Musicwood" follows the craftsmen behind Taylor, Martin and Gibson guitars into the forests of Southeast Alaska to negotiate with Native American logging companies.
In its Connecticut premiere, "Musicwood" will be screened at 6:30 p.m. Et on Monday, April 8 as part of the 2013 Yale Environmental Film Festival. At that time, you can watch a livestream of the film above, preceding a panel discussion with filmmaker Maxine Trump.
According to the film's website:
["Musicwood"] begins with the startling revelation that Native American corporations are clear-cutting vast acres of primeval forest. They are logging the largest coastal temperate rainforest in the world and the largest reserve of old growth trees in the USA. If logging doesn’t change, the guitar will run out of Sitka Spruce in 10 years time.
