Make That Another Extended TV Spot for Avatar

Make that yet another media update for Avatar. After making us wait years, 20th Century Fox continues to release something new for the film every couple of days. The latest comes as a new, extended TV spot for the film.

Avatar TV Spot

The good people at TrailerAddict have posted an extended TV spot for Avatar that is easily the most different of the trailers we have yet to see from the film. Unlike the last previews, which make the film look like an intense action-thriller, the TV spot is obviously aimed at younger audiences -- it aired on the Cartoon Network -- and pushes the idea of the film's fun and adventure. It might come across as a bit too Stargate for some, but remember that this preview likely wasn't made for you; unless, of course, you're under the driving age. »

Paltrow Plays With The Danish Girl

I guess if you want to make audiences feel more comfortable watching a movie about a transsexual and their sexual partner, you might as well cast it with those who are friendly on the eyes. So is the case for The Danish Girl, which just landed Gwyneth Paltrow.

Based on the David Ebershoff novel and directed by Thomas Alfredson off a script by Lucinda Coxon, The Danish Girl revolves around a man's (Einar Wegener) transformation after his wife Greta, a portrait painter, asks him to stand in for an absent female model. »

Take it from me - Reading through source code sucks. That's why Vendome Pictures is reaching out to Jake Gyllenhaal, who they hope will agree to star in their sci-fi thriller.

Jake Gyllenhaal for Source Code

Titled Source Code, the film will be directed by Duncan Jones and center on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it.

If the film sounds familiar, it might, as Universal Pictures at one time took a shot at it with Topher Grace prepping to star. Summit Entertainment will now handle domestic distribution. »

Disney's A Christmas Carol Tops Box Office

As expected, Disney's A Christmas Carol took the top spot at the box office this weekend. What I didn't expect, however, is that the film would scare the crap out of me.

Box Office Winner: Disney's A Christmas Carol

Seriously, I can only imagine how many parents were forced to cover the eyes of their children. That is one dark movie dude! While having Jim Carrey on board typically means laughs, there were few to be had in A Christmas Carol. Instead, Jim Carrey turned out being a great selection for voice casting, as he did a fine job as Scrooge and the Christmas spirits. With him and the help of 3D, the Disney adaptation opened to a solid $31 million. Less than what Disney was hoping for, but the film still has some upcoming holidays to take advantage of. »
