Need For Speed Release Date Rolls Forward Five Weeks

31 March 2013 1:10 PM, PDT

One might think an adaptation of one of the most popular racing video game franchises would come zooming into theaters as quickly as possible with its pedal to the metal . or with its fingers on the accelerator button, as it were . but Scott Waugh.s upcoming Need for Speed is playing it safe and taking the scenic route on the way to theaters. The film will no longer see a February 7, 2014 release, Deadline reports, and will instead go nationwide on March 14, 2014. With almost a year between now and then, one might wonder if the delay was caused by production problems or casting issues, but it.s really just steering clear of some stiff competition from two films that previously bullied their way to the same date. José Padilha.s upcoming Robocop reboot previously switched its release date from August 9, 2013 to its current February date, and Chris Miller and Phil Lord »

A Good Day To Die Hard Gets A June Blu-ray And DVD Release

31 March 2013 11:17 AM, PDT

I thought we were quite done seeing Bruce Willis play John McClane after Live Free or Die Hard made its way through the theaters. It.s apparently difficult to quit a cash cow character like McClane, which brings us to A Good Day To Die Hard, the fifth installment in the long-running franchise, which will be back to a hard-r format when A Good Day To Die Hard hits Blu-ray and DVD on June 4. A Good Day To Die Hard teams John McClane up with his rogue son, Jack (Jai Courtney) which leads to a Russian adventure of epic proportions. Of course, you can.t have Russian villains without including weapons of nuclear origin and bringing up the dreaded Chernobyl disaster. A Good Day To Die Hard is as over-the-top as ever, with the only difference being an older McClane whose various injuries throughout the film seem to effect the »

Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing WonderCon 2013 Live Blog

31 March 2013 8:17 AM, PDT

There were some absolutely huge films released in 2012, from Skyfall to The Dark Knight Rises to The Hunger Games, but none were bigger than The Avengers. The movie became the third biggest hit of all time, and was the biggest mainstream hit of Joss Whedon.s career. So how does the beloved filmmaker follow-up his incredibly successful comic book movie? With a black-and-white Shakespeare adaptation, of course. After spending time on the festival circuit, playing both last year.s Toronto International Film Festival last year and at SXSW earlier this month, Whedon.s Much Ado About Nothing has arrived at the Anaheim Convention Center for WonderCon, where the writer/director and his cast will both be showing off footage from the movie and talking about it in depth. And you can read my minute-by-minute updates below! 11:03: Joss Whedon on stage to make a quick announcement. Sadly Nathan Fillion »

This Rotten Week: Predicting Evil Dead Reviews

31 March 2013 6:05 AM, PDT

Happy Easter to all you gentiles out there. You don.t celebrate anything on this Sunday? Consider yourself lucky. I.ve got an egg hunt, non-stop talk of bunnies, overzealous family dinner and the prospect of Little Rotten Week getting hopped up and tweaking on a metric ton of milk chocolate bunnies. He has risen indeed. Not much on the docket this week. Just dead turning a little evil. Just remember, I'm not reviewing these movies, but rather predicting where they'll end up on the Tomatometer. Let's take a look at what This Rotten Week has to offer. Evil Dead Teenagers and young adults sure are an idiotic bunch. Their music is too loud. Hair too long. Ideals remarkably misaligned with the realities of the modern world. The self-serving nature of their actions make it impossible to spend more than twenty consecutive minutes in their presence. In fact its as »

30 March 2013 6:41 PM, PDT

When it comes to comic conventions, Guillermo del Toro is treated as a true legend. And this year at WonderCon, del Toro rewarded that loyalty with some awesome giant robot vs. giant monster action. As part of the Warner Bros. panel, del Toro delivered not just a brand new exclusive trailer to the crowds in the arena of the Anaheim Convention Center as well as some in-depth details to get you excited for the upcoming epic. The panel began with the director noting that the movie is now 85% complete, with effects and music still being mixed . but that he had cut a brand new trailer just for the convention »

The Conjuring Delievers A Creepy Game Of Hide And Seek To WonderCon 2013

30 March 2013 6:10 PM, PDT

Between the Saw franchise and Insidious, director James Wan has established himself as one of the biggest names in the horror genre. The filmmaker regularly searches for new ways to scare audiences, and this summer he will be delivering not only a period ghost story, but one based on a true story. And today he brought a first extended look at the new movie to WonderCon. Earlier today Wan brought three separate, full scenes to the arena of the Anaheim Convention Center to scare audiences to their very core. Check out a detailed description of the sequences below! The first scene begins with Carolyn Perron (Lili Taylor) and her daughter playing a game of hide and seek. Carolyn is wearing a blindfold and spins around while her daughter goes to hide. As the mom stumbles around she asks for a hint and the little girl claps once. She goes into »

This Is The End WonderCon 2013 Live Blog

30 March 2013 1:22 PM, PDT

At the start of This Is The End, directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg bring together all of their frequent co-stars and collaborators, from Jonah Hill to Danny McBride to Craig Robinson, together for a massive party at James Franco.s house. Sounds like a great time, right? Who wouldn.t want to spend a night hanging out with some of the biggest and funniest comedy stars in the entire world? As fun as it sounds, however, the enjoyment level probably does decrease quite a bit when you realize that outside of the house the entire world is falling apart as a result of the biblical apocalypse. Or perhaps it just ratchets the fun up another notch. You saw and laughed at the amazing Red Band trailer that was released for the film back in December, but now Rogen and Goldberg are bringing the This Is The End experience to »

The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones WonderCon 2013 Live Blog

30 March 2013 1:20 PM, PDT

It.s not just comic book movies that come to conventions anymore. Rather, the events have become about the fan experience as a whole, and in recent years that most definitely extended to young adult fiction. Proven by Harry Potter and Twilight in previous years at multiple conventions, there is a considerable audience of book-to-movie adaptations that will show up in droves. And now The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, based on the hit Cassandra Clare series, is prepping to awe at WonderCon. The panel is set to begin in the arena at the Anaheim Convention Center, with the filmmakers and stars set to both talk about the film and also show off some new footage. WonderCon 2013 Costumes Day 1: Iron Man, Lara Croft, Doctor Who And More!

29 March 2013 7:44 PM, PDT

One of the best things about any comic convention is the costumes worn by attendees. People from all walks of life attend the events and feel free to let their geek flag fly, dressing as their favorite characters from movies, television, comics.basically anything you can think of. Not only does it lend the atmosphere a feeling of united fanhood, more often than not it.s downright impressive just how comprehensive and detail-oriented they costumes get. And that was certainly the case today during the first day of WonderCon. I spent my entire day today in and around the Anaheim Convention Center, where the annual event kicked off its three day stay, taking photos of all the incredible outfits fans wore to celebrate the pieces of pop culture they hold closest to their hearts. From Ariel of the Little Mermaid to Zatana of DC Comics, just about every geek universe »

Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington Bring Back Buddy-Cop Fun In 2 Guns

29 March 2013 2:29 PM, PDT

The first official trailer for 2 Guns confirms what you probably already assumed about the shoot-them-up buddy-crime thriller. Charismatic Mark Wahlberg and smooth-as-silk Denzel Washington make a tremendous pair, and audiences likely will happily line up and fork over their $15 to watch these two in just about Anything. What you.ll get out of 2 Guns is this: Wahlberg and Washington play bank robbers who make off with a $40 million haul in the trailer.s opening scenes . only both men have secrets to share. Washington, we learn, was a DEA agent, while Wahlberg was Special Forces. Now the two men must team up to find out who set them up during the bank job . leading to an explosive showdown with all sorts of armed goons. I.m hard pressed to pick out my favorite part of this entertaining trailer. I love the way Wahlberg keep repeating .together. as Washington attempts to brush »

Clint Eastwood To Direct Jersey Boys Adaptation?

29 March 2013 1:21 PM, PDT

For years now, Hollywood has snatched up the rights to everything under the sun, with hordes of possible adaptations constantly on the verge of production before taking a backseat to other projects. This isn.t so questionable a process when talking about a novel or a video game that hasn.t been released yet, where there is no built-in audience. But when it comes to an adaptation of Jersey Boys, the multi-Tony award winning hit Broadway musical, it seems counter-intuitive that we haven.t already seen an Oscar performance from it. With Jon Favreau as director and a shift from Sony to Warner Bros., it looked like a fast track to success, but then the film went into turnaround, and only the crickets. songs could be heard. But sources are telling The Hollywood Reporter that Clint Eastwood is finally postponing his troubled A Star is Born remake on purpose, and »

The Host: 10 Big Differences Between The Book And Movie

29 March 2013 1:17 PM, PDT

Stephanie Meyer is not in my wheelhouse when it comes to reading. Somehow, every female character she writes is either passive or annoying and every male character she writes is a stock character of some sort of male ideal. Throw in some saccharine descriptive sentences and groanworthy dialogue and she has achieved her perfect formula for The Host, a sci-fi romance novel about what is perhaps humanity.s last great fight for freedom and the ability to love. For those who are fans of Meyer.s work, The Host has now been turned into a film, courtesy of sci-fi megawriter and director Andrew Niccol. With Niccol writing and directing The Host for the big screen, Meyer.s novel was in capable hands. The Gattaca and The Truman Show writer could surely add a little snap and pizzaz to an otherwise tiresome endeavor. As it turns out, however, creating a symbiosis »

Somebody Up There Likes Me Exclusive Clip: Nick Offerman, Pizza, And Ice Cream

29 March 2013 1:04 PM, PDT

Nick Offerman has become famous to millions of Parks & Recreation fans as the imperious and eternally cranky Ron Swanson, which is why you might be surprised by the version of him you see in Somebody Up There Likes Me. As you can see in the exclusive clip above, Offerman plays a guy who works at a restaurant, and has been doing so for a long, long time-- way too long, in fact. Fresh off the dissolution of his marriage to a woman (Jess Weixler) who is also his buddy's (Keith Poulson) ex-wife, he's clearly looking for a new start-- and as we all know, the only safe investment in this world is in pizza and ice cream. An indie comedy currently available on VOD, Somebody Up There Likes Me is also playing at Brooklyn's Bam Cinematek throughout the weekend, with live Q&As from Offerman himself on Friday and Saturday »

Watch The Evil Dead Spot That's Going To Air During The Walking Dead

29 March 2013 11:05 AM, PDT

Based on everything (gory!) we are hearing (super gory!) about Fede Alvarez.s Evil Dead remake (beyond the goriest thing you.ve ever seen!), we can imagine that a television-friendly 60-second spot might be hard to cook up. And yet, the above clip manages to set the stage for the chills producers Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are about to unleash on their loyal army of .Deadites.. The clip premiered at Nerdist, and will air this Sunday night on AMC during the new episode of The Waling Dead. That makes perfect sense, given the audience Walking Dead speaks to. The commercial sets up the basic plot. Mia (Jane Levy) is brought to a remote cabin in the woods to detox from her drug addictions. When one of her friends opens up a harmful book of the dead, the campers take turns being possessed by an evil spirit who likes to »

Iron Man 3 Will Be Completely Different In China

29 March 2013 10:44 AM, PDT

There.s no denying that Shane Black.s upcoming Iron Man 3 is one of the most anticipated films of the year . the last few years even . giving theaters an explosive summer boost right in the middle of the spring season. So is it exciting, disappointing or non-essential that China is getting its own version? Deadline reports Marvel and China.s Dmg Entertainment announced Iron Man 3 will get an exclusive Chinese edit to be released at an undetermined future date. Dmg worked with Marvel for the Beijing-filmed scenes, which the legendary Chinese actor Wang Xueqi took part in, and both companies say Xueqi will appear in both versions. However, the overseas version will feature an exclusive appearance from Fan Bingbing, China.s top actress, and a package of bonus footage was prepared specifically for Chinese audiences. Presumably it isn.t just ninety minutes of Tony Stark reading a list »

G.I. Joe Retaliation: A Gif Review

29 March 2013 8:44 AM, PDT

I'll be frank: I was hoping to duck G.I. Joe: Retaliation entirely. Yes, I'm Team Tatum. I'm with Sean on rooting for the Rock to save everything. And of course, I love me some Bruce Willis. But all I remember from the first movie was that (spoiler alert for G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra) Joseph Gordon Levitt becomes Cobra Commander, France gets devastated by Joe's in robo suits, and that I was equal parts bored and baffled watching it. So, when I attended an advance screening for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, my expectations were pretty low. Guys, I was in no way prepared for the insanity and awesomeness that played out before my very eyes over the next 110 minutes. Warning: spoilers below. As someone who spent her childhood favoring Princess of Power She-Ra and the truly outrageous Jem over G.I. Joes, I worried my lack of »
