New Scary Movie 5 clip with Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen!
5 April 2013 8:31 AM, PDT
Catch a fresh clip from Malcolm Lee's Scary Movie 5 comedy. Charlie Sheen's place is rigged filled with cameras and sex tapes, and Lindsay Lohan's getting freaked out by the "unraveling" of the old hose...watch and you'll get what I mean. I especially like the "No Deal For Lindsay" portion flashed on TV, very amusing. This is actually quite a funny clip for the film which also includes Ashley Tisdale, Snoop Dogg, Katt Williams, Molly Shannon, Terry Crews, Simon Rex, Jerry O'Connell, Sarah Hyland, Katrina Bowden, Tyler Posey, Shad Moss aka Bow Wow, Kate Walsh, Heather Locklear, Mac Miller and Mike Tyson. Scary Movie 5 opens on April 12th via Dimension Films, and lampoons the greatest in horror and genre fare. »

The Great Gatsby movie poster 16
5 April 2013 5:46 AM, PDT
Catch the 16th and latest poster for The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire, Gemma Ward, Callan McAuliffe, Amitabh Bachchan, Jason Clarke, Daniel Newman, Elizabeth Debicki and Jack Thompson. Baz Luhrmann directs the Warner Bros. Pictures release as well as writing the script alongside Craig Pearce, based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The film hits theaters on May 10th, 2013. The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio) and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Mulligan) and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into »
Carrie Trailer - Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore star in reboot, but will it surpass the original?
5 April 2013 5:34 AM, PDT
The new trailer's up for the remake of Stephen King's Carrie horror, starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, directed by Kimberly Peirce. In truth, I was never fan of the original film, which then starred Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie and to me, this reboot looks pretty decent. This reimagining of the classic horror tale stars Moretz as Carrie White, a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa scripts. Kevin Misher produces while J. Miles Dale serves as executive producer. The film opens in theaters from October 18th, 2013. »
Assault On Wall Street trailer starring Dominic Purcell
5 April 2013 4:36 AM, PDT
Watch the trailer for Uwe Boll's Assault on Wall Street, starring Dominic Purcell, Edward Furlong and Eric Roberts. I like Purcell as an actor, with credits for Prison Break, films like Blade: Trinity, Primeval and Straw Dogs, I wish I could say the same for the director's attempts at the helm. We're talking films like Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, In the Name of the King, Far Cry and more. At least there's no White House involved here. In any case, I wish it luck. In Assault on Wall Street, Jim is an average New Yorker living a peaceful life with a well paying job and a loving family. Suddenly, everything changes when the economy crashes causing Jim to lose his job, home and wife. Filled with anger and rage, Jim snaps and goes to extreme lengths to seek revenge for the life taken from him. The action thriller »
Upstream Color Review (Five out of Five stars) Ambiguity, experimentation and beautiful camerawork make Upstream Color a sci-fi drama for the ages
5 April 2013 4:22 AM, PDT
A man and woman face a mysterious organism in the philosophical Upstream Color. An art house film buff will probably get this description. So I’m watching indie filmmaker Shane Carruth’s sci-fi drama Upstream Color and I’m thinking, wow, this mind-bender would have sparked the most passionate, fun-to-read fight between the famous critics Andrew Sarris (champion of experimental filmmakers like Carruth) and Pauline Kael (fan of punch-to-the-gut filmmakers like Brian De Palma and Robert Altman), who probably would have hated it. I can imagine their battling reviews, the critical equivalent of throwing dung at each other, and I let loose a long “sigh” for the fact that Carruth probably won’t receive as much attention for his filmmaking today. Perhaps, just perhaps, he’s a filmmaker out of time in this era of superhero blockbusters. For fans of Carruth’s 2004 debut sci-fi thriller Primer, myself included, many aspects »

Raze movie trailer and poster featuring Zoe Bell, Rachel Nichols
4 April 2013 11:13 PM, PDT
Watch the trailer and see the first poster for Josh C. Waller's Raze, starring Zoe Bell and Rachel Nichols, as well as Tracie Thoms, Sherilyn Fenn, Doug Jones, Bruce Thomas, Rebecca Marshall and Rosario Dawson. In all honesty, I've never heard of this one, but it's good to see Bell working with Thoms again after the Grindhouse's Death Proof segment bac in 2007. I recall speaking to both of them at the Atlanta Motor Speedway about that one, time flies. Moving on... Waller helms the film, and also wrote the story alongside Kenny Gage and Robert Beaucage, who in turn wrote the script. Raze opens April 21st, 2013 and is produced by Andrew Pagana, Gage, Waller and Bell. »
Evil Dead Review (Four and a Half out of Five stars) Lots of blood and even more screams make Evil Dead a fantastic horror remake
4 April 2013 1:02 PM, PDT
Review: Five friends battle evil spirits with gory results in fantastic remake Evil Dead Some movie remakes are obsessively loyal to the point of being dull, mirror reflections of the original film. Think about Gus Van Sant and his stumbling, paint-by-the-numbers recreation of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. What’s the point? Other filmmakers undertake a complete makeover in order to transform a B-movie into something fresh and original. I’m talking about director David Cronenberg and Jeff Goldblum as the tragic scientist who becomes The Fly. Filmmaker Fede Alvarez, from Montevideo, Uruguay, of all places, reboots the 1981 cult horror classic The Evil Dead for his debut feature and strikes the perfect balance of fan reverence and fearless desire to boost the scares to new levels of shock and awe. »
This Weekend Evil Dead aims to scare off G.I. Joe 2, as Jurassic Park 3D debuts with 6 Souls, Trance, The Company You Keep
4 April 2013 9:33 AM, PDT
A solid list of films are making their debut at this weekend's box office, with horror and thriller dominating the genre list. First up, the remake of Evil Dead gets around 3,025 theaters to scare the daylights out of audiences, and this one looks like it can. Not that 6 Souls is any slouch in the scares department. I caught the Julianne Moore, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Francis Conroy horror helmed by Underworld Awakening's Mars Marlind and Bjorn Stein via VOD, and trust me, you don't want to watch that before bedtime. There are just 54 theaters playing the film though. G.I. Joe Retaliation opened last weekend and, even if the film falls 50% when compared to its opening tally of $40.5 million, that's still a $20 million take. I think Evil Dead should easily cover that, considering the fan base of the original Sam Raimi film, now being helmed by Fede Alvarez, and produced by the Bruce Campbell, »

The Brass Teapot third poster with Juno Temple - Michael Angarano in a teapot
4 April 2013 8:57 AM, PDT
Poster 3 for The Brass Teapot starring Michael Angarano and Juno Temple Juno Temple's smoking a some cash...literally, and Angarano's bandaged noggin's out of a teapot. If I'm heard saying that sentence in public, they'll shift me off to a nut farm, but here, I'm good to go. The Magnolia Pictures comedy which also stars Alexis Bledel, Alia Shawkat, Ben Rapaport, Steve Prk, Billy Magnussen and Lucy Walters, hits theaters on April 5th, exclusive to N.Y. and Los Angeles.
