Slipknot's Snuff Video Features Genre Alumni

AOL debuted the new music video/short film from the band Slipknot today for their track Snuff off their latest album All Hope Is Gone.
The clip was co-directed by Slipknot's own M. Shawn Crahan (Clown) and renowned photographer/director P.R. Brown features unmaksed frontman Corey Taylor in an intricate storyline and a haunting look into the obsessed mind of a melancholy lover, heartbroken over a lost paramour.
It also (surprisingly) includes appearances by genre veterans Malcolm McDowell ( Halloween II ) and Ashley Laurence ( Hellraiser ). (Sheesh, this woman looks better than ever.)

The Reeds Joins After Dark's Horrorfest 4

The second to last film in After Dark Film's upcoming Horrorfest 4, aka 8 Films To Die For has been announced and it's The Reeds .
In The Reeds , a weekend boating trip through the Norfolk Broads becomes a deadly ordeal for six 20-something year old friends who lose their bearings in the vast reedy tidewaters. Chances of escape and hopes for survival diminish as inexplicable forces terrorize the lost and terrified group.
The Reeds was written by Chris Baker and Simon Sprackling from a story by Chris Baker. Nick Cohen directs a cast of young actors, including Anna Brewster, O.T. Producer Offers Update on Neil Marshall's Burst 3D

It's been a couple of months since Neil Marshall ( The Descent , Doomsday ) signed to direct Burst 3D for Lionsgate and Ghost House.
Shock Till You Drop had a chance to catch up to producer J.R. Young (repping the Ghost House team) this week and we pressed him for an update on this tale of a group of folks who are holed up in a lodge during a winter storm and start spontaneously exploding.

One-Sheet for Sweden's Mara

In early November, we gave you a look at the trailer for Mara , Fredrik Hedberg, Jacob Kondrup and Åke Gustafsson's Swedish horror film starring Playboy model Angelica
Jansson. A one-sheet has been sent our way, which you'll find below with a synopsis from Filmkoncept.
They tell us they're currently in post-production on the project and it should be completed by February. Who knows when we'll get it here in the States. We'll keep you posted, of course.

Romero's Survival of the Dead Finds a Home

George A. Romero's latest zombie offering, Survival of the Dead , has found U.S. distribution.
Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that they have the rights. Magnet will release the film as part of its Ultra VOD program this spring, debuting it on VOD platforms nationwide a month before its theatrical release. Hopefully, the scope of its theatrical bow will be larger than Diary of the Dead 's release in the hands of Dimension Films.
Like its predecessors, Survival of the Dead takes place in a desperate, nightmarish world where the dead walk the earth, relentlessly attacking the living.

Tony Todd Muses on Candyman 4

The Candyman legend never dies. Within the last five years, there's been talks of a remake, yet according to Tony Todd, there are renewed talks of a fourth entry.
The actor is in Northern California now starring in Deon Taylor's Dark Christmas . "This is the third time I've worked with Deon and I definitely think he's an up and coming talent in the horror industry," Todd told Dread Central. "We've been talking recently about some of our ideas, including wanting to revive the Candyman franchise and keep the legend moving forward."
Todd goes on about the sequel saying, "Deon and I have some tricks up our sleeves too for Candyman, so just sit tight for that because you never know what will happen."

R.I.P. Dan O'Bannon

We're saddened today to learn of the passing of Dan O'Bannon.
No stranger to sci-fi or horror fans, he'd penned the screenplays for the original Alien , John Carpenter's debut feature Dark Star , Gary Sherman's Dead & Buried , Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce and Invaders From Mars and one of our personal favorite zombie movies Return Of The Living Dead , which he also directed.
We recommend you head over to his imdb credits right here , familiarize yourself with his work and celebrate it by revisiting those movies and incredible contributions to our beloved genre by a fellow fan. He will be missed.

Segal to Helm Supernatural Comedy Neighborhood Watch

Variety reports that director Peter Segal ( Get Smart ) is in talks to helm Neighborhood Watch , a supernatural comedy scripted by Jared Stern ( Bolt ) and being produced by Shawn Levy for Twentieth Century Fox. (What their idea of "supernatural" entails however has yet to be determined.)
Originally set up as a starring vehicle for Will Ferrell, the film focuses on a newcomer to a community who joins the neighborhood watch and discovers supernatural elements are afoot. No word on production yet, but if we hear a bit more about the "supernatural" aspects of this story and they sound cool, we'll keep you posted.

Production Announcement for 15 Till Midnight

New York based Rotten Apple Productions has announced 15 Till Midnight as their next project, following up on the recently completed The Gate of Fallen Angels . Actor Brandon Slagle ( Kinky Killers ) will topline the cast of the sci-fi/horror pic, as well as co-direct (along with exec producer Dave Meyers) from a script written by Slagle. Casting is scheduled to begin in January 2010 for a tentative April shoot on location in portions of Manhattan and Queens.
Industrial/Speedcore musician ScreamerClauz has been tapped to contribute original music for the feature with special effects duties being handled by John Farley ( Blitzkrieg: Escape from Stalag 69 ).

Sorority Row DVD Arrives Early 2010

Video Eta currently has a release date of February 23rd, 2010 marked down for director Stewart Hendler's Sorority Row , a remake of the 1983 slasher flick The House on Sorority Row . Predators Finds New Prey in Matrix Star

Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of Predators , now lensing in Texas under the direction of Nimrod Antal.
Shock Till You Drop has learned he is playing a character named Roland. The Matrix vet joins Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins and Alice Braga.

Two New Photos from Scorsese's Shutter Island

A recent advance screening of Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island yielding positive criticism, further fueling our excitement for this psychological thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo. Today, Dreamworks released two new hi-res photos which you can access in our photo gallery by clicking on the image below.
Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River"), the film follows two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.
Look for it in theaters on February 19.

Director Scott McCullough and writer Kenny Yakkel ( Dead Air ) have teamed up with Inner Primary Entertainment to bring The Exorcism Diaries to the screen.
Dane Lillegard and Bob Engelman are producing and Ipe principals Clay Ayers and Deborah Moore are executive producing. Casting has begun with Michael Hothorn and Quintessential Film. Shooting is slated for late Spring 2010. Check out the teaser poster below.
