Hawkman Movie May Finally Fly at Warner Bros
14 hours ago
Warner Bros may finally be developing a stand-alone feature film for their DC Comic book hero Hawkman, according to an inside source for Pajiba.
The studio describes the project as equal parts Indiana Jones, The Da Vinci Code, and The Ghost, which meshes about as well as naming three arbitrary movies in connection with a superhero property. My best guess is Carter Hall/Hawkman (actually an archeologist in the comics, so there’s that) travels to a tomb where he discovers ancient pottery crafted by two lovers in a passionate embrace that has historical significance about a secret society of superheroes. There, I just wrote the plot. You’re welcome, WB.
I’ve made my enthusiasm for the forgotten Justice League member known in the past. I mentioned the winged bad ass in my list of “Six Comic Book Characters Who Need Their Own Spin-Off,” as well as the personal »

Is Taylor Lautner Going on a Vision Quest?
When Taylor Lautner ripped off his shirt countless times in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, women of all ages swooned for the new found muscled figure he had cultivated between movies. Nothing was more creepy, however, than Lautner’s recount on “The Jay Leno Show” about the time a 40-ish woman, accompanied by an embarrassed daughter, told the 17-year-old actor she wanted him to autograph her panties.
Which is why the new possible starring vehicle for Lautner hits close to home. According to E! Online, the sought-after teen phenom may be up for the lead in a remake of Vision Quest, a cheeseball 1985 movie about a high school wrestler who falls for an older woman. Matthew Modine starred in the original alongside the feature debuts of Linda Fiorentino and Madonna.
Twilight producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are developing the onesie to fit Lautner, as well as a Taken-style action »

Awesome English ‘Inception’ Trailer
In case you didn’t see Sherlock Holmes this weekend or catch the French version of this video, Warner Bros has released an English, high-resolution trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. The studio has kept details surprisingly secret for the science fiction story, so please pardon the lack of explanation for the eyegasm of random images and confusing dialogue. I honestly have no idea what’s happening either. I can’t wait to find out.
Set “within the architecture of the mind,” Leonardo DiCaprio plays a CEO type that becomes entangled in a shady business of stealing ideas? Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, and Ken Watanabe also star.
Watch the embedded teaser below or in super high-res Quicktime at Apple.com:
Do yourself a favor and watch it twice. Inception is out in IMAX and traditional theaters on July 16, 2010.

Facing Ali DVD Review
James Toback’s candid interview with “Iron” Mike Tyson may have missed the short list of 15 films vying for the Academy’s “Best Documentary,” but another boxing movie is a contender as the field narrows in a little over a month.
Out on DVD Tuesday (Dec. 29), Facing Ali recalls the career of Cassius Clay, better known as the self-proclaimed greatest boxer of all-time, Muhammad Ali. Ten fighters who faced the man, from George Foreman to Joe Frazier and Leon Spinks to Ken Norton, reminisce on his ring persona and the key bouts that changed their lives.
No former fighter is more open than George Chuvalo, who helps piece together the portrait of a powerful athlete and controversial figure. He recalls the famous taunts that earned Ali the nickname “the Mouth from the South,” the religious and political stands during a turbulent time, and of course the contests that shaped the sport in its prime. »

Avatar Tops Record-Breaking Holiday Weekend
27 December 2009 7:29 PM, PST
In its second week in theaters, James Cameron’s Avatar topped the largest weekend box office in history that totaled an estimated $264 million in sales. The figure may be even higher once the final numbers shake out on Monday.
Cameron’s 3D epic contributed $75 million, the second biggest second weekend in history just behind The Dark Knight’s July 2008 run. Typically movies will see around a 50% decline between weekends, but Avatar managed to drop only 2.6% from its opening on the way to $212 million domestic and already rank 7th in 2009 grosses.
On top of that, it added another $145 million overseas for an unbelievable worldwide total thus far of $617.3 million.
Warner Bros’ Sherlock Holmes put up equally impressive numbers, setting the Christmas Day record with $24.9M on the holiday opening before tallying $65.4 million through Sunday. Outside of Iron Man, it’s the biggest weekend for stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, »
