Christina Hendricks: 'Ryan Gosling film role is intimidating'

Christina Hendricks has admitted that her role in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut How to Catch a Monster is intimidating.

She admitted that she immediately agreed to star in the film but did ask Gosling why he had chosen her, the Daily Mail reports.

She told Flare magazine: "Talk about feeling intimidated. Ryan called me and asked me if I was interested in doing this film and I said, 'One, of course, yes, and two, why me? And three, I don't want to disappoint you.'

"It's the largest role I've ever had, so this is one I'm definitely aware of my anxiety about."

Hendricks will star alongside Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn and Doctor Who's Matt Smith in the film, which is due to be released in 2014. She previously starred alongside Gosling in Drive.

Hendricks also admitted that she has been "rejected a million times" in auditions for other roles. »

Carey Mulligan: 'Nude scenes have helped me deal with body issues'

Carey Mulligan has revealed that nude scenes have helped her overcome her body issues.

The Great Gatsby actress said that she found getting naked for scenes with Michael Fassbender in Shame "liberating", reports The Sun.

"In my own life I'm very prudish about my body, or at least I have been in the past," she said.

"I'm always covering myself up rather than wearing skimpy outfits. I don't look good in very short skirts - at least I don't think so.

"I'm often terrified about different aspects of characters I'm playing."

Mulligan starred alongside Fassbender in the Steve McQueen directed film in 2011 and despite being nervous about the scenes, she insisted that it was important for the character that she do them.

"With respect to nudity, it was vital to the character in Shame, who wasn't supposed to be a very attractive character and needed to be emotionally naked and lost in different ways, »

Tom Cruise confirms 'Mission: Impossible 5'

Tom Cruise has revealed that a fifth Mission: Impossible film is in the works.

Cruise confirmed the planned sequel during an appearance on The Graham Norton show.

He replied when asked about the series: "I am working on the story." However, he declined to give any more details.

Cruise revealed in October that he would be keen to make another Mission: Impossible film.

He said: "I started Mission: Impossible hoping I could make many of them. It's a character that I can grow with.

"At that time it was the most expensive film in the history of Paramount Pictures, and the first film I was producing.

"It's been pretty exciting. Seeing an audience respond… to have that experience is really wonderful. I'll make a bunch of those. I'll make as many as people want to see... because they're very challenging, and so much fun to make."

Bradley Cooper replaces Jude Law in 'Jane Got a Gun'

Bradley Cooper is to replace Jude Law in Jane Got a Gun.

Law left the production after the departure of director Lynne Ramsay following creative clashes.

It was reported that Ramsay "believed she had no choice but to withdraw from the film after a series of compromises over cast and locations reached critical mass, including a falling out with the film's star and co-producer Natalie Portman".

Despite Warrior director Gavin O'Connor being brought in as Ramsay's replacement, Law left the production just hours later.

Law was originally a replacement for Michael Fassbender, who also quit the movie.

Cooper's recruitment means that the film will secure funding and allow filming to continue.

Jane Got A Gun stars Portman as a woman who is forced to turn to an ex-lover (Joel Edgerton) for help after her outlaw husband (Cooper) is targeted by a murderous gang. »

5 April 2013 4:24 PM, PDT

Ryan Gosling has revealed that bank heist scenes from his new film The Place Beyond the Pines were filmed in front of real customers and not extras.

Gosling - who plays a stuntman-turned-bank robber in the Derek Cianfrance crime drama - admitted that the film's crew decided to use real staff and members of the public to make the shoot-out seem more realistic.

The actor told The Daily Telegraph that scenes were filmed in one take and designed to capture genuine reactions, but people still seemed to recognise him.

"I'm there with a gun and I look down and people are just smiling," said Gosling.

"They were just enjoying the show and I think I spotted someone filming me on their camera phone as I robbed the place."

The 32-year-old also said that his role as Luke Glanton allowed him to indulge his passion for motorbikes as well as act out bad guy fantasies. »

The composer told CNN of following the iconic Williams theme: "Look, that was daunting. Seriously. He's the greatest film composer out there, without a doubt, and it happens to be one of his iconic pieces of music, so I spent three months just procrastinating and not even getting a start on the thing, because I was so intimidated: 'Oh my God, I'm following in John Williams's footsteps'."

Explaining his approach, he said: "I kept thinking of the story as, 'What if you are extraordinary, and your entire ambition is to join humanity? To become human? What does it mean to become human? What does »

In a five-decade career spanning newspapers, TV and the internet, Ebert mastered every medium he turned his hand to with reviews of wit, intelligence and eloquence. In short, he was the master where most other film critics were mere apprentices.

Digital Spy takes a look at 10 great Ebert reviews below.

Apocalypse Now

"Years and years from now, when Coppola's budget and his problems have long been forgotten, Apocalypse will still stand, I think, as a grand and grave and insanely inspired gesture of filmmaking - of moments that are operatic in their style and scope, and of other moments so silent we can almost hear the director thinking to himself. »

5 April 2013 7:43 AM, PDT

The actress revealed to Flicks and Bits that women can relate to Lady Jaye because she is both "sassy" and "vulnerable".

"For me, the great thing about Lady Jaye in this movie is that she's somebody that girls can look up to," Palicki explained. "It's such a well-rounded part, because she gets to be funny, she gets to be sassy, she gets to be the intelligence of the group, she's a sharpshooter, and she also gets to be feminine, she gets to be vulnerable."

Palicki went on to say: "It was a great opportunity as an actor to play these different facets. She does have a bit of a chip on her shoulder, she is in this group of guys.

"She has a bit of sass to her and a strength in having to constantly prove herself. »
