Police Chief Convicted in Sarah Jessica Parker Surrogate Theft

An Ohio police chief accused of stealing items from the surrogate mom who carried Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's twin daughters was found guilty Monday on three of six charges. Martin's Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter, 40, along with another police chief, was accused of meeting with freelance photographers last May and offering items such as a poem, photos, legal documents about the surrogacy agreement, and pictures of ultrasounds. A photographer alerted the surrogacy agency, which reported the thefts to police. After 12 hours of deliberation, a jury found Carpenter guilty of receiving stolen property, theft in office and tampering with evidence. »

Celebrity chef Paula Deen was in Atlanta helping the Hosea Feed the Hungry charity load up food when an errantly tossed ham hit her in the face, leaving her with a sore nose but no other apparent injury. "I thought it busted my lip, but it didn't," Deen tells CBSAtlanta.com. She made light of the whole mishap, saying through laughter: "Ran head on to a hog." »

Melissa Etheridge Addresses Mammogram Controversy

Breast cancer survivor Melissa Etheridge expressed her concerns over the new health guidelines, which say most women don't need mammograms until they are 50 instead of 40. "We have gotten ourselves into a big, deep hole in the way that we look at healthcare," Etheridge, 48, told People at the American Music Awards on Sunday. "We are in a system where they get money when we're sick. That's never going to work for us." She adds: "So when someone says, 'You don't need a mammogram until you're 50,' you take charge of that. I don't trust any of that." »
