New Xbox to require online connection for gaming
Rumors have been swirling that the next Xbox console, codenamed Durango, will have to stay connected to the internet in order to play games or use apps. An anonymous source told Kotaku, ”If the connection is interrupted then after a period of time — currently three minutes, if I remember correctly — the game/app is suspended and the network troubleshooter started.”
Talk about a potential disaster, which only got worse when Microsoft Studios creative director Adam Orth took to twitter to condemn the “always on” backlash.
Orth stated that he didn’t “get the drama.”
He went on the mock Twitter users who reminded Microsoft of the Diablo III and SimCity online debacles.
Orth soon took down his Twitter and turned it to private, probably at the behest of his employers at Microsoft.
