- Formed in March 1966, the group played regularly at London's Marquee Club. They released two singles in summer 1967 - "Created by Clive" and "Flowerman" - before splitting up that autumn. The group re-formed in March 2004, 38 years after they originally formed and over 36 years after they split up.

- Very much a precursor to the early Yes, they were a five-piece band with three-part harmonies and featured future founding Yes bassist Chris Squire and original Yes guitarist Peter Banks.
- Between 1966 and 1967, The Syn had a succession of four different drummers in less than eighteen months. Future Mabel Greer's Toyshop drummer Robert Hagger auditioned for the group in summer 1967 but did not get the gig.
