Taking over a family business can be overwhelming, but for Karan Johar, it’s been anything but.
It’s been more than 25 years since Johar took over Dharma Prods. founded by his father, Yash. Back then it was a medium-sized production company producing films to moderate reception. Today, Dharma Prods. is an empire. “Karan has truly carried forward his father’s legacy and created a phenomenon with Dharma Prods. He is a cinematic genius,” says actor Alia Bhatt.
Bhatt has worked with Johar for over a decade, first on the 2012 film “Student of the Year” and most recently on “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.” “Karan and his entire team at Dharma have been a strong pillar in the evolution of Hindi cinema,” says Bhatt.
This summer, Johar’s film “Kill” will be released domestically by Lionsgate in cinemas on the July 4 weekend, and is set to be released July 5 in India.

All aboard! The Pain Train is leaving the station, and you want to avoid getting stuck riding coach! Lionsgate is giving action fans something to crow about today with the debut of the brutal Kill trailer. Described as India’s goriest and most intensely violent film, Kill is like David Leitch’s Bullet Train on steroids, if those steroids were taking steroids!
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat directs Kill from a script he wrote with Ayesha Syed. The plot revolves around a passenger on a train to New Delhi. The train soon becomes a combat battleground as a pair of commandos face an army of invading bandits. What was supposed to be a leisurely trek turns into a claustrophobic bloodbath, with death and destruction filling every car along a fast-moving train.

"We hope you enjoyed the ride." Lionsgate has launched a teaser trailer for the awesome action movie Kill, from filmmaker Nikhil Bhat. This incredible film premiered last year at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival in the Midnight Madness section, and it also played at the Sitges Film Festival - where I caught up with it. This film is an action movie on the scale of The Raid, but set entirely on a moving train with fights happening in the passenger cars. When thugs board a train and start attacking passengers in a train heist, the train soon becomes a combat battleground as a pair of commandos face the entire army of invading bandits. Starring Lakshya, Tanya Maniktala and Raghav Juyal. You have never seen anything like this before!! I totally lost my shit watching this film last year, and my review is quoted in this trailer stating a fact - this...

Kill Teaser Review: A Bloody New Chapter For Indian Cinema? (Photo Credit – Youtube)
Move over masala musicals and epic romances, because Bollywood is about to get a serious dose of red. The teaser for Kill has landed, and it’s not for the faint of heart. This isn’t your typical hero flipping ten goons at once while singing a catchy tune. This is a genre-bending, barrier-breaking experience produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, promising a brutal and bloody thrill ride unlike anything Indian cinema has ever dared to unleash.
Helmed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, Kill’s teaser itself is a crimson calling card. Ditch the family-friendly U rating – this one proudly boasts a Red Band YouTube release, a clear indicator that things are about to get messy. Gone are the sanitized fight scenes and bloodless encounters. Kill throws caution to the wind with its “unapologetic violence and gore,...

The upcoming series ‘P.I Meena’ has unveiled its trailer and it boasts of a dark, and intriguing, narrative, showing itself to be hardcore and intense detective drama. Following a murder made to look like an accident, actress Tanya Maniktala’s character of Meena, a private investigator, ends up encountering something far more dangerous.
Meena is a private investigator and while a brilliant detective as alluded to by the trailer, the cases that she has been handling have been rather menial for her, or at least not satisfactory to her at all.
One day, Meena ends up encountering a case, which may just become for her the case of a lifetime.
The synopsis of the series states: “A young private investigator is the eyewitness of a road accident. A young man is hit by a speeding truck. Happens all the time. Or, does it?
“An existential link to her troubled past...

Lionsgate has partnered with Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment to grab distribution rights in North America and the UK for the Indian actioner “Kill.”
While Indian films have played in North American theaters regularly, often in semi-wide or wide releases, it’s much less common for a major Hollywood studio to participate stateside. In fact, this is the first for a Hindi-language feature.
The Hindi-language flick, due for theatrical release in 2024, can be loosely described as “Die Hard on a train,” with the lone wolf hero (Lakshya) doing his best to dispatch the bandits (led by Raghav Juyal) so he can complete his journey to save his beloved (Tanya Maniktala) from an arranged marriage.
Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, “Kill” is produced by Karan Johar & Apoorva Mehta for Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga Kapoor & Achin Jain for Sikhya Entertainment. The picture made its acclaimed premiere at TIFF as a Midnight Madness selection,...

Years ago, Indian director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat fell asleep on a cross-country train ride, only to discover upon reaching his destination that the cars on either side of his had been robbed by armed bandits, known as “dacoits.” The heist couldn’t have been too intense, or it would have awakened him, but it got the helmer’s gears turning about what a truly terrifying train raid might look like. The answer: “Kill,” in which a crew of 40-odd thieves board a train, intending to steal passengers’ watches and phones, then turn bloodthirsty after running into a pair of hardheaded commandos.
As brutal a film as the country has ever produced, “Kill” is a shockingly graphic action showcase from an industry that typically plays violence in a more cartoony register. All told, “Overkill” probably would have been a better title, considering how far Bhat takes each and every altercation, milking it for maximum vengeance.

Actor Amol Parashar, who is currently shooting for his untitled project alongside actress Tanya Maniktala in Ahmedabad, has found himself in good spirits, with the movie finishing just in time for his upcoming birthday. However, Amol after the wrap-up, revealed that he has never been too attached to the idea of birthday celebrations.
Openly admitting his somewhat of an indifference to the idea of birthdays, Amol said: “Yes, I have never been too attached to the idea of birthdays and certainly not one to make a big fuss about it.”
However, he isn’t disdainful or resentful of the custom, as he still enjoys them. Adding to this, he said: “Of course, it’s a great excuse to try something new, take a break, or throw a party, and I try not to miss out on that excuse. I’ve spent quite a few past birthdays at work as well,...

Amrit (Lakshya) admits near the beginning of Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s no-holds-barred action extravaganza Kill that the only reason Fani (Raghav Juyal) and his extended family of dacoit train robbers are still alive is because they aren’t on a battlefield. Had he and his Commando Captain partner Viresh met them in combat, they probably wouldn’t have even seen them coming. So be glad for a few broken bones and lacerations. Things could be so much worse. I just never quite imagined how much worse.
Because a switch gets flipped around the midway point. What starts as Amrit desperately trying to protect Tulika (Tanya Maniktala), the woman he loves, and her powerful family soon becomes a gorefest devoid of prisoners. It’s not even like Fani and his gang were intentionally targeting them, either; they were simply looking for an easy score lasting the thirty minutes between train stops...

Toronto Film Festival Midnight Madness world premiere “Kill” is a confluence of three stellar Indian talents.
Producer Guneet Monga Kapoor is an Oscar winner for “The Elephant Whisperers”; fellow producer and filmmaker Karan Johar is a Bollywood A-lister who has just delivered massive hit “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani”; and director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat is known for Netflix film “Long Live Brij Mohan” and Prime Video series “Rasbhari.”
“Kill” belongs to the extreme action genre, a rarity in Indian cinema. Set entirely on an express train to New Delhi, the film follows Indian army commandos Amrit and Viresh, who are on a mission to rescue Amrit’s girlfriend Tulika. She is betrothed to someone else against her wishes. Matters go awry when more than 40 bandits (known as dacoits in India) belonging to an extended family board the train with a view to looting and kidnapping. Amrit and Viresh try...

Costume designer Jyoti Madnani Singh’s new film ‘Mumbaikar’ premiered on ‘JioCinema’ on 2nd of June. Mumbaikar boasts of heavy-duty star-cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Vikrant Massey, Sanjay Mishra, Sachin Khedekar, Tanya Maniktala and others. Jyoti Madnani Singh aka Jms, has dressed every single one of the characters in the sprawling cast. Jyoti’s costume does justice to the story setting that consists of characters from dark world of Mumbai and common Mumbaikar belonging to various strata of life.
Talking about how she landed up getting the assignment from a Kerala based production house, Jyoti said, “I have designed costumes for several realistic films in past like Rahasya, T for Tajmahal, Chaarfutiya Chhokare, etc, and had just finished shooting for thriller ‘420 Ipc’. Makers somehow got a whiff of my work. As Mumbaikar is also a thriller with tinge of drama-action in a realistic scenario, I reckon, I fitted the bill.

Tooth Pari: When Love Bites is a series written and directed by Pratim D. Gupta starring Tanya Maniktala and Shantanu Maheshwari. With Sikander Kher.
When Anne Rice moved vampires from old Europe to America and then ended up in San Francisco, the experiment was a success, and then it came the movie with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise playing Lestat.
Now the vampires have been living in the catacombs of Calcutta for several centuries and they wear… a different kind of outfit.
About the Series

However, they still have their audience and now Bollywood is trying its luck again -not very successfully, by the way- with this light romantic comedy,...
