A trial for David and Louise Turpin was held earlier this week and their 17-year-old daughter, Jordan, spoke out against her abusive parents. The teen — who was the one to escape her family's home and call 911 — took the stand at the Riverside Hall of Justice and revealed that her father, David, sexually abused her. According to ABC 7 reporter Rob McMillan, who live-tweeted the trial, Jordan told authorities that "she was sexually abused by her father in the TV room upstairs when they lived in Murrieta." He allegedly "called her over to him, pulled her pants down, and put her on his lap." Despite her pleas to stop, however, the abuse continued. "Jordan said she told her father 'I don’t like that stuff.' But he kept trying. The incident was interrupted when mother was walking up stairs. She jumped off his lap and pulled her pants up. Her...

When police returned a missing 12-year-old boy to his home in Fairfield, CA, they were shocked by what they found next. Nine more children, ages 4 months to 11 years, were living in "squalor and unsafe conditions." Garbage, rotten food, and animal and human feces were found strewn throughout the house, Lt. Greg Hurlbut said during a news conference Monday. He added that the children described various incidents of "intentional abuse." They suffered puncture wounds, bruises, and burns consistent with getting shot with a pellet or Bb gun, according to the department. The mother, identified by police as Ina Rogers, 30, was arrested and charged with child neglect. She was released after posting $10,000 bail on April 9. "I strive, I thrive on being a good parent to my children," Ina said. "My husband has a lot of tattoos. He looks like a scary individual, and that's why people are so quick to judge him.

Facebook Watch found the perfect person to host its new show about women who've been publicly shamed: Amanda Knox, the 30-year-old who was tried for the murder of her roommate and ultimately exonerated. In the six-part docuseries The Scarlet Letter Reports, which debuted on May 2, Amanda sits down with famous female pariahs, hoping to reveal the real people behind the "two-dimensional characters" propagated by the media and the public. It wasn't long ago that Amanda was presumed guilty… Until, of course, she was proven otherwise. At 20 years old, the Seattle native was arrested after the 2007 murder of British exchange student Meredith Kercher, with whom Amanda roomed as she studied abroad in Perugia, Italy. Amanda was nicknamed "Foxy Knoxy" in the press and thought to have killed Meredith in a sex game gone wrong. In 2011, however, she had her murder conviction overthrown. She and her ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were then retried and again found guilty,...

On Aug. 28, 2003, 46-year-old Brian Wells sat cross-legged in front of a cop car with a bomb locked around his neck with a metal collar. The pizza deliveryman had just robbed a bank, and his alleged co-conspirators had tasked him with an impossible scavenger hunt. Then, the device exploded, killing this so-called "Pizza Bomber." Now, 15 years later, new Netflix docuseries Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist revisits the bizarre case with first-hand testimony from the people who were on the scene. As the commonly held version of events goes, Wells thought he'd be wearing a fake bomb, but his alleged co-conspirators forced a real bomb on him under gunpoint, locking the collar around his neck. Wells then went to a Pnc Bank location with a homemade shotgun and demanded $250,000. Then, according to the instructions given to him, he was to complete a series of tasks to buy himself more time.

A Texas mother who watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians while her two kids died inside her hot car has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars. Cynthia Marie Randolph was found guilty of two counts of reckless injury to a child after her young children, Juliet, 2, and Cavanaugh, 16 months, were found dead of heatstroke insider her locked Honda Crosstour last year. According to testimony, Cynthia got angry after she caught her kids playing in the car on May 26, 2017. Believing her oldest daughter would be able to get out of the vehicle herself with her baby brother, she returned to her house, smoked marijuana, and watched Kuwtk before taking a long nap. "When they refused to exit, Randolph told police she shut the car door to teach Juliet a lesson, thinking she could get herself and her brother out of the car when ready,” stated a probable cause affidavit, The Washington Post reports.

On January 14, 2018, David and Louise Turpin were arrested and charged with torturing and holding their 13 children captives in what has been dubbed the "House of Horrors." Thousands of miles away, Louise's sister Teresa Robinette was shocked to discover her nieces and nephews were starved, beaten, and abused by their seemingly normal parents. Since the arrest, Teresa, along with her half-brother Billy Lambert, have been struggling to put the pieces together and find out what went wrong. In an exclusive interview with In Touch, Teresa revealed that she hopes the parents get life behind bars for what they did to their family. "Absolutely. I think they deserve everything they've got coming to them," Teresa said of her sister's and brother-in-law's upcoming court case involving over 40 charges of abuse, torture, false imprisonment, and a lewd act on a child under 14. Teresa went on to explain how her family, including her five kids,...

He goes by many epithets — the Golden State Killer, the Original Night Stalker, the Diamond Knot Killer, the East Area Rapist — but the world might finally know the real name of the man behind at least 12 murders and 45 rapes in California between 1976 and 1986. On April 24, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo in a suburb of Sacramento, CA, after his DNA matched evidence in the 40-year investigation. So who is this suspected Golden State Killer? For six years in the 1970s, DeAngelo actually worked as a police officer in the Californian cities of Auburn and Exeter. He was eventually fired for shoplifting a can of dog repellent and a hammer from a drugstore, according to CNN. "Very possibly he was committing these crimes during the time he was employed as a peace officer, and obviously we'll be looking into whether it was actually on the job," Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones said.

Now, Louise's sister Teresa Robinette and her half-brother Billy Lambert tell In Touch exclusively that they are trying to adopt the youngest six kids following their experience in the "House of Horrors." "I want to. I'm at the point where I feel like I can help, so I would like to," Billy said before explaining how he hopes to talk to lawyers and Child Protective Services soon. However, Teresa points out that they might not be able to adopt the kids due to financial constraints. Seven children of alleged abusers David and Louise Turpin have been released from the Corona Regional Medical Center. According to their lawyer, Jack Osborn, they are now living together in a home in rural California. The specific location, however, is being kept secret. In an interview with ABC News, Jack said the seven oldest Turpin siblings were released on Thursday and transported to their new home, where they each have their own rooms and closets. They also reunited with their family dogs. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) "The adult siblings want to be known as survivors, not victims," Osborn told the outlet. "They're joyful, warm, considerate. It's not all about them. They want to hear what's going on with you, and me, and my family," he said. "It's just really fun. It's fun to be around them. Of course, they're really full of joy about their life and the things they get to experience right now.

David and Louise Turpin made headlines when they were arrested for holding their 13 children captive in their California home. Now, two months after the "House of Horrors" couple was charged with torturing and starving their kids, ranging in age from 2 to 29, relatives of the family appeared on The Dr. Oz Show to give an update on the pair behind bars. Louise's sister, Elizabeth Flores, and her cousin Patricia Andreassen spoke on the daytime talk show after visiting Louise in prison. According to Elizabeth, she had no idea the Turpins were "capable of this evil" and revealed that the siblings were victims of childhood abuse themselves — explaining how Louise would sacrifice herself to the family member to protect her sister and cousins from being abused. "That's why it's so shocking that she wouldn't protect her own kids," she explained. It’s a story that’s haunted the nation. Louise and David Turpin...

Back in January, David and Louise Turpin were arrested after being accused of starving and holding their children captive in their California home. In new YouTube video footage — obtained by ABC News and posted on March 6 — the Turpins’ 17-year-old daughter is seen singing self-written songs in front of grimy doors and a room full of what appears to be dirty clothes. In one of the video clips, the teenage girl plays with two of the family’s small dogs. According to authorities, the canines, along with David and Louise’s youngest child — a two-year-old daughter — were the only beings in the couple’s home who weren’t malnourished. The 17-year-old daughter’s last video was posted just seven days before she broke out of the house and called 911 on her parents. It was then that David and Louise were accused of abusing 12 of their kids. According to prosecutors, they forced...

Some of the siblings who were found in a California house of horrors where they’d allegedly been abused by their parents have since had to be taught how to brush their teeth, one local leader familiar with the case tells People.

Police in Perris, California, were shocked earlier this month to discover the 13 children of David and Louise Turpin had apparently been living in a house of horrors: Allegedly kept malnourished from lack of food and regularly abused, most of the kids had also been imprisoned and tortured in the home, authorities believe.
The Turpin parents were soon arrested and remain in custody, having pleaded not guilty to the dozens of charges against them.
The children, ages 2 to 29, are recovering at local hospitals and reportedly providing information to investigators. Only the youngest child, it seems, was somewhat spared.

After being rescued from a California house of horrors, the children allegedly starved, tortured and shackled by their parents for years will experience “long-term effects” but with time can reclaim their lives, says an expert in child psychology and trauma.
“Obviously they have been through horrendous, horrendous situations, and going forward, we’re not only going to have to allow them to grieve the past, but also deal with the grief of acclimating to the world,” Rebecca Bailey, a psychologist who works with families to overcome trauma, said on Wednesday’s People Now. “It can be a very scary world to come into.

Early morning darkness still blanketed the streets of suburban Perris, California, on Sunday, Jan. 14, as a window began to creep open at the brown stucco and stone house. A 17-year-old girl slipped out into the yard, and then, at 5:53 a.m, using a deactivated cell phone, she dialed 911.
The call was the culmination of a desperate escape plan the teen had devised with her siblings for more than two years, and when she spoke to the dispatcher, she revealed a shocking truth: She and her 12 siblings were being held against their will by their parents, and some of them were chained.
