Hasbro introduced the world to G.I. Joe as a series of action figures in the '60s. Originally as 12-inch figures, the line was successful for the toy company. But when the line was relaunched in the early '80s as smaller-scale figures complete with accessories, such as vehicles and playsets, the whole enterprise really took off. It led to a series of Marvel Comics adaptations, animated shows, and yes, big-budget feature films.

Yet, adapting that relationship is a task that upcoming movie Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will boldly attempt to tackle, albeit with some contextually-necessary alterations to the classic comic book story famously crafted by writer Larry Hama. While such changes tend to be abhorred by longtime fans, they will manifest with the blessing of Hama himself.

At the start of this year, October was looking huge for Andrew Koji. Warrior, the groundbreaking Cinemax series launches into Season 2 starting on October 2nd. Koji plays the lead role of Ah Sahm, the character that Bruce Lee wrote for himself in his 8-page treatment that inspired the series. That’s still on. However, Koji’s first starring role on the big screen is off. Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins which was originally scheduled to premiere three weeks later, has been postponed until next year.
Snake Eyes aspires to be a back-door pilot for the G.I. Joe franchise akin to what Bumblebee was for Transformers. Both franchises are Hasbro properties based on their iconic and lucrative toy lines, and there’s even talk of a crossover film connecting the G.I. Joe and Transformers universes.
Snake Eyes capitalizes on the growing popularity of the G.I. Joe ninjas, conveniently increasing marketability for the flourishing Asian markets.

“Seberg” screenwriters Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse are in talks to write a new “G.I. Joe” movie for Paramount and Hasbro, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The new film is a follow-up to “Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins” and will be the third live-action film based on the “G.I. Joe” toy line. The new sequel will focus on the origins of the fan-favorite character known for his masked face, black commando uniform and ninja training.
“Snake Eyes,” which wrapped production before the pandemic, centers on the early days of Snake Eyes, when he tries to become a member of the Arashikage Clan, a ninja kinship-based in Japan. According to “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra: The Essential Guide,” the Arashikage worked as shadowy assassins for generations, using deception to earn their keep as ninjas, as well as developing a reputation for being able to perform impossible tasks.

The Russo brothers are on the top of everyone’s list when it comes to putting out a potential blockbuster and now it seems we may have an idea of what property they might take on next. Paramount is rebooting G.I. Joe, that much we know, and apparently, they’re looking at the Avengers: Endgame directors to help them reignite the franchise.
Paramount’s first mission to bring G.I. Joe to the big screen wasn’t a total failure. 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra starring Channing Tatum and 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation starring Dwayne Johnson were both profitable films, but their returns from the box office were nowhere near where the studio had hoped. So, the franchise ended up being relieved of duty instead of getting another sequel. But now it seems Paramount is ready to rally the troops once again, and to lead them into battle...

You’d be forgiven for forgetting that the G.I. Joe franchise even existed despite it being around for over a decade, with the series having little in the way of forward momentum following 2013 sequel Retaliation. Both installments suffered from tepid reviews and underwhelming box office totals, not even coming close to matching the numbers posted by Transformers, Hasbro’s marquee property when it comes to making blockbuster movies.
That being said, any brand with even the slightest hint of name recognition isn’t going to go to waste in modern day Hollywood, and a spinoff for fan-favorite character Snake Eyes was officially announced in May 2018, with Red and R.I.P.D. director Robert Schwentke behind the camera and Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding cast in the title role.

If you were a fan of the old G.I. Joe cartoon from the 80’s, the silent ninja called Snake Eyes was probably your favorite character. Let’s face it, it’s hardly a contest, considering how much he stands out next to his fellow Joes. For one, he’s not the typical tough guy soldier, but a shadow ninja known for literally never talking. His weaponry includes a plethora of bladed weapons, most notably his twin katanas, and the standard military firearms and explosives. Snake Eyes is just cool because of how much he stands out from the other meathead soldiers and the

With Paramount gearing up to shoot a Snake Eyes-centered G.I. Joe spinoff film later this year, the studio utilized its panel at Cinema Con 2019 to tease fans with the possibility of a third entry in its main series.
G.I. Joe 3 has been in the works at Paramount since the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, but lukewarm reviews and middling box office business has slowed down any serious momentum for the project. Dwayne Johnson was set to reprise his role as Roadblock in a proposed third film titled G.I. Joe: Vigilant, but it seems like he’s no longer attached.
Instead, a new rumor from FullCircle suggests the Vigilant script has been retooled to focus on Philip “Chuckles” Provost, an undercover agent who must come out of hiding to take on Cobra’s latest threat, twins Tomax and Xamot and their time machine called the “Wheel of Time.

Hasbro and Paramount continue developing a standalone martial arts action movie spinning off from "G.I. Joe", showcasing the faceless character 'Snake Eyes', to be directed by Robert Schwentke ("Divergent"), targeting a March 27, 2020 release:
"Snake Eyes" screenplay is by Evan Spiliotopoulos ("Beauty and the Beast") , focusing "...on the early days of the silent, masked warrior, as he attempts to join the ranks of the 'Ninja Clan' known as 'Arashikage'."
Snake Eyes, originally part of Hasbro's 1982 G.I. Joe toyline, was portrayed by Ray Park in the live-action feature "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009) and the sequel "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" (2013).
He is the team's original commando, with much of his history and information, including his real name, place of birth and service number, remaining "Classified". All that is known for certain is his rank/grade, originally 'Us Army Sergeant/E-5', eventually reaching 'Sergeant First Class/E-7'.

Match #1: Toni Storm def. Meiko Satomura in a Semifinal Match The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
In the biggest match of her career, Toni Storm not only took down decorated world-beater Meiko Satomura, but she also punched her ticket to the Mae Young Classic Final this Sunday at WWE Evolution. The Semifinal clash was every bit as hard-hitting as it was expected to be. Satomura used her vast arsenal of strikes and submissions to push Storm to the brink of defeat, but The Lightning Down Under didn’t waver. Storm even trapped Satomura in a submission hold for more than a minute midway through the match, sapping the legend of energy and putting her in true jeopardy...
