Per Emmy tradition, all of the guest acting nominees had to designate their episode submissions on the initial nominations ballot, so we already know all of the entries for Best Drama Guest Actress. The 2021 Emmy nominees for this category are Alexis Bledel (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Claire Foy (“The Crown”), Mckenna Grace (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Sophie Okonedo (“Ratched”) and Phylicia Rashad (“This Is Us”). Scroll down to see which episodes the Emmy voters will be watching to judge the nominees’ performances.

In just two seasons, “This Is Us” has already netted three Emmy wins for its acclaimed ensemble cast. Sterling K. Brown, who stars as Randall Pearson, won Best Drama Actor for Season 1 alongside Gerald McRaney as Dr. K in Best Drama Guest Actor. For Season 2, Ron Cephas Jones (as William) collected his first Emmy in that same guest category. “This Is Us” now finds itself with seven more Emmy nominations for its actors for Season 3, including first-time mentions for stars Mandy Moore (as Rebecca) and Chris Sullivan (as Toby). It is apparent that the TV academy still loves “This Is Us,” which is a good indication that at least one of those seven acting nominees will walk away with Emmy gold in September.

It guest stars Phylicia Rashad as Beth’s controlling mother and features some intense mother-daughter drama and revelations about Beth’s past and future.
The episode, directed by Anne Fletcher, explores Beth’s early ambitions as a dancer in a storyline that is somewhat reminiscent of Misty Copeland, and it turns out Kelechi Watson herself is no slouch in that area, having studied dance.
For Fletcher, directing dance scenes with an actor who could genuinely perform the moves was a major bonus. “Susan actually did all of her dancing,...
